Question Blank PDF Bill

When I select the "View PDF" option in e-Billing section of My Virgin Media a new window pops up but it's empty. I'm using IE8 and Adobe Reader 9.4.4 which I believe are pretty much up to date.
I suspect an IE setting - has anyone else overcome this problem ?

Re: Blank PDF Bill

Have now installed Adobe Reader X, result is the same. Apologies if I'm being a bit slow off the mark but how do I save the PDF file if I can't view it in the first place ?

Re: Blank PDF Bill

No, the resulting window is not an Adobe Window its a Browser pop-up window that should presumably encapsulate the PDF. The main point is however that this window is blank, that is there is nothing to save even if there was a save option.

Re: Blank PDF Bill

I'm getting sporadic error messages from the view pdf function, although it's working some of the time. Perhaps trying again later might help.

The usual technique of obtaining an address for the pdf and opening it directly in Acrobat viewer doesn't work 'cos VM use an unusual system that doesn't expose a suitable hyperlink.

Change your Adobe settings not to open a .pdf in the browser.

IE is the problem, switch to Chrome, you'll have no problem

Re: Blank PDF Bill

papasmurf : Have tried this but a VM browser window is still generated (Other websites do now open as an Acobat window so the Adobe Reader change seems to have been effective).

progers : I can confirm that this does work in Chrome, which seems to bring me back to my initial assumption that there must be an IE setting that is causing this problem. I use Chrome for compatibility testing on websites that I maintain but it isn't my "favourite" so would still prefer to solve the IE problem than "bypass" it.

It seems unique to VM as I can download.pdf files from my credit card company & elect/gas supplier without problem

Thumbs up Re: Blank PDF Bill

Seem to have solved this problem via trial and error (!), don't know whether it is coincidence or not but unchecking the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" option in the security settings within the Advanced tab in Internet Options seems to have done the trick !

Let us know if this solves it for ever - mine's unchecked, doesn't work!

Well, Just tried mine and it works without changing anything!

Maybe VM have fixed it?

Re: Blank PDF Bill

Just re-checked this field and the problems returns (ie blank PDF window), un-checked again and it and the bill is displayed as a PDF. Seems "solid" on my config.

Agreed! However, mine has been unchecked for some time and didn't work so I'm sure VM must have changed something.

Anyway, we both have bills we can download......today LOL
