First of all, with your level of discount, you are not paying too much.

Secondly, additional boxes do not add £15 per month.

Please advise how many and which type of box you currently have and how many and which type you want to add. It is not clear from your OP. I or someone else will then be able to advise.

Re: Making sense of Bill and upgrade

A New customer with the same services would pay £62.60, so not much in it. You would be able to get the lower price if you upgraded to XL 30Mbit (one off £30 fee)

For an another STB it would be £6.50 a month plus £40 install and £49.95 V+HD activation if you went for that (that's on the assumption you don't already have a V+)

Did you forget the paper bill charge that the OP has?

Re: Making sense of Bill and upgrade

Many Thanks for replies

I have a normal samsung box downstairs, wired by normal cable to upstairs bedroom,my son can view cable channels but needs to watch what I watch which is not great for him. I bought a new tv with freeview recently for him but our area does not receive well so thats discounted unless I do something about that. I thought by putting another box in his bedroom he would be able to watch what he likes and I do not know enough about V or V + for the main tv is someone can enlighten. I was informed another box in his room was £15.00 per month.? And the extra for v+ etc for downstairs ?

Tis his birthday next week and would liketo do something before if possible.

Again many thanks for advice

Ben's suggestion is a good approach. Get a V+ for your main TV and relocate the ordinary Samsung to your son's room.

This adds only £6.50 per month to your bill and your son can watch his own choice of channel.

You would have to pay a one-off installation charge of £40 to include installation of cabling to your son's room and installation of the V+ and relocation of the Samsung.

In addition, you would pay a one-off charge of £49.95 to enable the HD and PVR functions on the V+.

Re: Making sense of Bill and upgrade

Thanks for reply

Just called virgin and they quoted installation of £40.00 to relocate existing box,V+ £49.95 new box and activation and £3.50 per month for sons room rental.

Just some other questions :

He can view cable channels through co axial cable from an old installation, pre cable would I have to have new cabling done, which may be difficult as his room is on the other side of the house.
And as I am on XL package does this mean he gets the same package for the £3.50. The v+ box is that the unit that records 2 programmes whilt watching another. The £3.50 seems cheap.

Nearing a decision thanks

Re: Making sense of Bill and upgrade

If there is already co-ax in the room and you can still pick up some channels it should still be useable

Yes he'll get the same channels. By the sounds of it they've increased your bundle discount along with the extra box. So the net increase is only £3.50, but as I previously said the actual extra box rental is £6.50
