Question New Deal Advice :)

Hi All, I've been out of contract for awhile now with VM and finally getting around to changing my package for saving some money. I rang back up about an hour ago after getting a call saying my "Loyalty" has earnt a discount in services, from what i'm currently paying £57 p/m down to £45 p/m. I asked if this would re-instate my contract and was told yes, so i said i'll get back to them on whether i'd like to or not.

So i rang Customer Services, had a chat about changing my package and that i'm just weighing up my options for the moment so would like to know what they could offer me. I was told a few deals (below) and was just wondering what you guys would suggest doing?

My Current Package:
Phone: Talk Unlimited "free" calls all day to landline phones.
Broadband: 20mb
Price paying: £57 p/m (ollldddd package!)

Offer #1:
Phone: Regular? I'm guessing this means no actual deal just a landline.
TV: Medium+ (65 channels)
Broadband: 20mb
Price: £30.74 p/m

Offer #2:
Phone: Medium (Talk Weekends)
TV: Medium+ (65 channels)
Broadband: 30mb
Price: 37.24 p/m

Offer #2 seems great, saving me £20 p/m and getting Tv also with an upgraded BB connection. Problem is i'm not very interested in the phone line, though was advised to keep if i continue with VM as that's how you get the deals. So i spoke to my wife who basically said if we're going to keep it then talk weekends wouldn't be worth it as she'd continue to use it throughout the day etc, so i guess i'd need Talk Unlimited still

Main problem with the phone line is it being used over the "1 hr free" timeslot and then i get additional charges.

Sooo!! (sorry for the long rant!) what i'd like to know is there some way to limit the call time through VM so it would just cut off and/or redial? or some landline phone i could get that does this? Also is the package(s) i've been offered any good? and lastly how much extra is it for an extra box? as i'd like the tv upstairs in 1 other room also if i go that route.

Sorry for all the questions/ranting lol just trying to get this out as clear as possible whilst still in my mind!
Much thanks in advance.
~ Kfk

Re: New Deal Advice :)

I've never found a way to limit the call time, sounds like you really need unlimited calls so no plan there is suitable. Second box will be £6.50 if you have an hd box or £10.50 otherwise

I phoned Scottish power to give them my readings for Gas & Electric. The line was busy so they said "We will give you a ring back free. They called back 20 minutes later & it cost me £1 07. I guess this does not apply to VM. only BT

They charged you for the callback, I would have complained if they did that to me.

And no we make no charge to call you back ever.

Please explain what you mean. As far as I am aware, there is no way that you can be charged for an incoming call.

Call Return is where you use 1471 to call back someone who has called you. It is an outgoing call from you and is therefore chargeable to you.

Re: New Deal Advice :)

There is no such thing as regular phone, the basic phone is size M which is free weekend calls. The only difference between those 2 packages is the broadband speed from what I can see.

http://shop.virginmedia.com/phone.html

I would double check those offers again, its likely the second tariff comes with a higher phone package... or even 50Mb?
