Question Overpaying for BB L

I've been on BB L - 10Mbs - for pretty much forever - since it was 512kb paying £25.25 a month. Happy with the BB as it is. No phone or TV

Just noticed on the website that they're offering it for:
  • £21 a month without phone
  • £26.49 without phone (??)
Plus there are introductory discounts.

So it looks like I can get a better deal if I take out the basic phone. But with Skype & free mobile minutes I'd probably never use it. And I really don't want to be bothered with an engineer visit.

So would I actually need an engineer visit? At the moment the BB comes into a box called a QAMTEX VQ601 TV/DATA ISOLATOR, with a single IN from the brown box outside and a single TV/DATA out to the modem, with no other sockets. Are there any extra gubbins I would need, and assuming it's just a case of plugging cables into boxes would they send me them or could I buy them from Maplins?

And would I also get the intro discounts since I'm out of my initial contract period?

What I don't want to happen is to phone VM up, they say it's an engineer or nothing, I say nothing, they say 'OK then, no phone, so its a price increase!'

So what are my best options?

Thanks

PS - I know this could equally be in the installation forum, but I figured it's more about changing services than the installation.

Re: Overpaying for BB L

that's got me thinking as well, looked at my bill and i pay £25 for 10Mbs
and the only saving is -£13 .00 for triple saving?
How do i change either faster for same price or less money for staying the same?

If you are getting a £13 discount that means you are actually only paying around £13 for BB L (I'm assuming you also have TV so £1.50 goes to that)

Nope, it's basically the same as a new customer pays for the services. Course you could save £1.50 by going onto ebills

Thanks - if I were to add the phone option would I get any discounts (the small print isn't clear) and would I have to pay installation charges? - Again, not clear from the small print.
