£1 price rise
Got this email just now:
"We’re writing to let you know about a change to your monthly bill. Now that eBilling is our main billing option, we won’t be offering our £1 discount from 1st October. But don’t forget, there’s still a £1.25 charge for customers who choose to have paper bills, so you’ll carry on saving £1.25 a month – and a few trees too.
If you need help with any of your Virgin Media products and services, just go to our website at virginmedia.com/help. You can get help with your Virgin TV, Broadband, Phone and Mobile, as well as help with your bill. And the best bit? It’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
Kind regards,
Mark Davidson
Executive Director, Customer Care "

Re: £1 price rise
£1 is nothing really, I wouldn't complain if it was going up by £1, prices will go up every year with every company.

Re: £1 price rise
When I was 'a lad' I used to mock old women who'd complain about a loaf of bread being 1p more expensive in one shop than the other, if I ever complain about such insignificant rises which for my package are in-line with inflation then I truly will consider myself to have reached old-womanhood.

I think the main problem is that we've already had the annual price increase recently .... this is a back door one!

Re: £1 price rise
Its not the £1 rise though is it its the one after that and the one after that and the one after that you get the picture.
Its amazing how much extra money Virgin will make from every customer with the odd £1 increase that most dont seem to care about then moan that there bill has gone up £10 extra a month while the wage has only gone up by £5 etc
I pay £80 a month on average for my package BB is good but to pay for the TV packages there doesn't see much new content infact there seems to be a hell of a lot of repeats.

Re: £1 price rise
Not so much a price rise but the removal of a discount.

Re: £1 price rise
Inflation is currently running around 3.2% - so £1 is about inline with inflation.

Re: £1 price rise
When Virgin introduced ebilling, it saved a lot of money by saving on postage, machinery to print the invoices, personnel to handle them. The discount was savings passed on to the customers. They are still enjoying the savings on the cost side, but now they have become greedy, they want their £1 back. I have no idea how many customers were given this discount, assuming say 500,000, they are increasing their income by £500k a month and £6million a year and that's no chicken feed. There had been some good/creative thinking by their financial people, they know £1 increase will not cause a stir as indeed proven by some responses here, but the benefits to their income is quite substantial.
In a lot of people's minds, they have been money grabbing, daylight robbers, and this withdrawal of discount/price increase, call it what you will, just confirms it.
