Like folk on the M package who also will be paying the extra £1
I dont understand folk who cant budget and set up a DD, get a £100 overdraft limit and try to keep to not using it, and if you make a balls up at least you have a £100 buffer. Then you can put all those £1's away and save up for a rainy day

The discount was given so that we do not ask for paper bills, we still do not have paper bills, unless they give us back paper bills and restore the status quo (i.e. no discount but paper bills), it is a price rise. As I said before the company is still enjoying the benefits of savings without paper bills. The analogy of first period contract discount and credit card zero interest is totally irrelevant, its not remotely the same.. At the end of the day, customers (who are still not getting paper bills) have to dig into their pocket for £1, it becomes a price rise.
I am without a doubt here looking at all the responses that staff tends to support your own company, that is fine, and I half expected it to be so. While customers here are urged to write to the company and complain about the withdrawal of this discount (happy? not price rise) . Now will the Virgin staff here advise us which is the best address to use?

£1 is a reasonable price rise which is expected, I could understand the uproar if it was £5 a month

not everyone can get an arranged overdraft not everyone has a credit rating good enough

Anyone who finds that the loss of a £1 a month discount is going to cause them financial issues really should consider their priorities - and whether they should be paying for cable at all. Discounts rarely last forever.

its not going to cause major issues is it? its just another rise. As has been said we will have another on next year. The thing is if no one speaks out about it then the company will keep raising prices

You still do not get it, Paul, it has been said many times in this thread that £1 is a small amount, and should not cause people to move their services, or cause hardship. It is the principle of it. I will give the company £1 back if there is a consideration on Virginmedia's part, give us back the paper bill, it is as simple as that. To say paper bill will cost us more, that is highway robbery.

But it isnt a price rise, the price hasnt changed, its a removal of a discount that some people got, not the same thing at all.
The company will continue to raise prices every year anyway - thats life, unfortunately.

I get it perfectly thanks. Its not robbery, its not a price rise, and the principle is very simple - the company offered you an incentive to switch - they have now decided to remove that incentive. Its happens with services and goods every day.

Paul have you had a good look at VM pricing? have you seen a bill? If VM are allowed to just remove discounts then at any point someone paying £50 quid a month could get a bill thats £20 more
The whole VM billing system is made up of one price and a discount its a bone of contention for me and many others and there are countless posts on this site about it. Ok this is removal of a small discount what about when they remove the big ones and the 50 meg goes up from 28 to 38 quid just like that?( prices estimated cuz they may have changed)
