Saving £1.25 ... or not?

Quote:
We’re writing to let you know about a change to your monthly bill. Now that eBilling is our main billing option, we won’t be offering our £1 discount from 1st October. But don’t forget, there’s still a £1.25 charge for customers who choose to have paper bills, so you’ll carry on saving £1.25 a month – and a few trees too.
So my bill is going up by £1 then?

my parents will be annoyed by this, as they don't a computer or internet, I remember them being annoyed when they were told they could save £1 by having ebilling, but couldn't have ebilling without internet

I read that as you'll be losing your £1 discount so you'll be that much worse off. Extremely ingenuous to put the £1.25 saving in there, as you were never charged that because you had eBilling...

Ok, biting - so I get charged an extra pound due to losing the discount - but it is ok because people getting a paper bill are charged £0.25p more - so I'm not really 'saving' £1.25.... - unless paper billing will now cost £2.25?

Doublethink is so fashionable these days. Didn't you know you could both save £1.25 and pay £1 more at the same time? Welcome to the Virgin Zone.

Re: Saving £1.25 ... or not?

Basically, some one that gets paper billing pays £1.25 for the privilage. The early adopters of ebilling got a discount of £1 for choosing ebilling over paper billing as well as not having to pay the £1.25 for paper billing, thus saving £2.25 over someone opting for paper billing. Now, the £1 discount is being removed on 1st October so then, someone opting for ebilling will now save £1.25, £1 less than they were previously saving over someone opting for paper billing. If you were a later adopter of ebilling you may not be saving this extra £1 for having paperless billing anyway so the email can be disregarded. You know if you are currently getting the extra £1 discount if you look at your bill and under charges and discounts it says: E Bill Discount 03 August - 02 September £-1.00. Hope that clears things up a bit. In other words yes your bill is going up by a quid if you get the extra £1 discount but you are still saving £1.25 over someone with paper billing

Re: Saving £1.25 ... or not?

No because paper billing people will have a £1.25 charge on the bill where as ebilling people won't so it's £1.25 less, it's the extra £1 discount (if you have it) which appears on your bill as a credit that's going

Re: Saving £1.25 ... or not?

Yeah, if you wanna pay £1.25 for the privilege. That's £2.25 more than you will be paying now before the additional discount is removed
