Virgin Bad value?
First of all hello to all (new member).
Right here goes stick with me. I am currently a Sky subscriber, My package is as follows.
Sky+ HD box but not paying £10 for the HD subscription as the 'terrestrial' channels in HD is enough for me
Sky Sports
Sky Movies
All the entertainment packages
Additional Multiroom Sky+ box
My subscription is £58 pm
I have Broadband with Virgin and also my phone (50meg and Basic respectively). I get this for £32 pm.
Sky + Virgin = £90pm.
I phoned Virgin as I want my bills all in one place, I asked for the exact same package for the same price, and was told no chance it will be £115 installation and " about £100 per month". I then got the hard sell as to how I needed Virgin and I should change immediately. I hung up.
I was told there is no such thing as a V+ box only (no HD capability) that I wanted for the upstairs bedroom, I had to have 2 V+HD boxes, is this true.
Does anyone here know the price of this package below
V+HD primary box
V+ secondary box
XXL tv
Phone call free at evening and weekends
20meg BB
Everytime I phone I get a different price.

Re: Virgin Bad value ??
There is no such thing as a non HD version of the V+, that is correct, all V+ are HD ready. There is no such thing as an XXL tv package, biggest package is XL with movies and sports as premium channels for an extra charge. Best package for you is one of the VIP which you can have either with 20mb(£89.50) or 50mb BB(£97.50) and this package also includes the movies and sports, these include 2 boxes, 1 of which is a V+ but you can upgrade the other one to a V+ for a little extra per month (I think it's £5). Also, going the VIP route, your install is cheaper as well. Oh also the 50mb now includes the movies and sports HD at no extra cost. Call CS and tell the advisor you want the VIP.
Here is a link http://allyours.virginmedia.com/webs...ct.do?id=11029
oh p.s remember to add the cost of the line rental on to any price you see on the internet - £11.99

Sounds like the XL plus package which is the VIP without movies and sports.

As not all calls are recorded... Best way is to get them to put a note on your customer account as to the price quoted and also ask for it in writing (email/fax/letter)

I believe the wording on most calls you make to company call centres is something along the lines, "Calls may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes."

Re: Virgin Bad value ??
My son works in a call centre and all calls ARE recorded but conveniently lost if needed.
Anyway got the deal I was happy with. unlimited calls, 20meg BB, 2 V+HD boxes, sky sports and movies and £119 installation fee, (wouldn't budge on it). £77.94 for the first 6 months and £85.44 after that. Installation Sept 1st
Phoned to cancel Sky and was offered everything, Free BB, free calls, half price TV package and free HD, all for 6 months. Was very tempted, but took me to leave them to get a deal out of them after 10 years of loyal custom, so stuck by my guns and ended the contract.
Amazing how friendly they are while trying to keep your custom, but when they find they cant sway you it all becomes very matter of fact.
Oh well hope its gonna be worth it

No company would have the storage space required to record every cal,l and as Charlie_Bubble states below.

We only usually get a couple calls recorded by our Quality Team in order for them to score how we did on a selection of calls around about once a month and after they are analysed and played back to the agent they are usually deleted.
Anyone who believes that all calls are recorded has been seriously misled.

You are aware that unless you tell the person that you are recording them that they can only be listened to by yourself and not as evidence of a bad call.

I've set up many a call centre where all calls ARE recorded. It's far from an impossibility, especially with storage being so cheap these days. You're talking a storage cost of 0.02p to store a 10 minute phone call.
What it'd really come down to is practicality, a single 1TB HDD can store 200,000 10 minute phone calls. You have to look at your volume of calls and the estimated rate of growth of the storage array and if the maintenance costs for future expansion of the array are in line with the benefits of doing storing the calls.
Many places will just recycle their storage with calls being kept for a period of time in case issues arise in future (such as disagreements on services signed up for) and the call can be played back to see if customers have a genuine grievance. It costs virtually nothing to keep calls on a 30, 60 or even 90 day window.
VM might not record all calls, but I can assure you that a fair amount of places do.

I never said that it was impossible but that if people believed all calls were recorded then they had been seriously misled.

Contradicts with:

Like I said, plenty of companies DO have the storage space (which really isn't at all that much), and DO record every call.
It's true that VM do not record every call, but you've stated that NO COMPANY does, which is incorrect.
