Indeed and for some people, it's just not worth VM keeping hold of their custom if they threaten to leave, especially with this "or else" attitude some have.
Mothing wrong in seeing if you can reduce prices/packages though
VM are well aware of competitor prices too

Re: Retention suggestions
Hey all...
Having been out of contract for a couple of month, and not really needing any more services, i thought i'd call up and see if i could get a reduction.
Currently got V+HD box, standard box, XL TV, L phone, L Broadband with router costing about £47ish. (Ebill/DD).
I'd noticed that they're giving 2 months free to new customers on any package, and tried to get that in exchange for signing up for another 12months. Wouldn't do it, as expected, without taking a new service or upgrading existing one. So cheapest way seemed to be upgrading the phone to XL at £3 ish per month (£36ish) and then they've given me the 2months free - saving approx £57 over the year.
Better than nothing!

Re: Retention suggestions
Ok, so my best bet is, to ring up retentions in the morn, & say to them what can they offer me in return for me siging up for another 12 months? Btw, had a email reply off them few days ago, & contract ends on 21/8.

It would probably help if you get a comparative price of the Sky site (and it's lower.... ).

Re: Retention suggestions
I've been told in previous posts Virgin are aware of competitors prices, & is pointless using just this to bargin with them. Any other suggestions???

Of course they have full access to all the competitors prices and they will have online price and package comparison tools plus of course they have full online access to the competitors websites.
Anyone that thinks that they just guess needs a reality check.

Re: Retention suggestions
I know, that's why I was replying to foreverwar's post that I know Virgin have all the access to competitors prices etc., & that I know it's pointless using just that to bargin with them. So, I should be able to get some sort of deal in return for singing up for a new 12 month contract???

Re: Retention suggestions
If you're paying more than you would at Sky for comparable services, or if you upgrade a service, then yeah. Otherwise, probably not.

Thanks, Oneear -that was my point; you can only use it as a negotiating tool if it's lower....
In my case, the Sky equivalent package was £3 cheaper than VM, but I didn't even need to discuss that with Retentions; they upgraded my BB to XL and reduced my total package price by about £7 (tbf, I have been a customer for fifteen years, and have always been on mid-range packages, so that may also have helped - I also asked nicely ).

You ring up and ask as no one on here can truly advise you of how good a price you may or may not receive, call them and report back if you get a good deal.

Re: Retention suggestions
Ok, spoke to a very helpful man, had Talk Anywhere reduced to 400 from 800, everything else kept the same, & he reduced my bill to £66.24! Not bad for a 5min chat.
