Market forces - people have a choice; there are competitors out there.

You see it happens hear too we are told that we cannot record a conversation by a VM employee ( Nothing against Moldova ) without their knowing , but this is not true. So if you got a VM customer service person promising you lift time fix price do we belive it or are they talking off the top of their head. I often press the record button when some one is giving me details so help me list what I should know what's wrong with that. If we are told the true and accrete information why would any one be worried, unless its not true.

Re: 'Lifetime' Loyalty bundle

You can record it for your own use, but you can't play it to anyone else (a third party) without the other party's (in this case the VM employee) permission.

No, provided you are not intending to make the contents of the communication available to a third party. If you are you will need the consent of the person you are recording.

You can record me with or without me knowing but only one of those 2 versions can actually be used, can you guess which.

Re: 'Lifetime' Loyalty bundle

At the risk of being shot down:

If you record such a conversation without initially asking permission but then feel the need to present it in court, you could ask permission then. If the employee refuses, the court could draw the conclusion that the recording would show that they are now lying.

Maybe?

Market forces only come in to play if you have a choice, where i live sky is not available so thats one out! BT vision is also not available due to their phonelines delivering only 1mb in our area choices disappearing fast!

Which leaves basically top up tv or freeview good old market forces eh.

So basically its take vm or have no pay tv at all in my area whats known as hobsons choice i believe.

But i do get a loyalty discount of £21.50 a month so at the moment thats fine, so long as they do not start mucking about with it.

It would be inadmissible from the start as no permission was asked even if it proved the person with the recording was actually in the wrong, the law is quite specific in this respect.

I for one would allow each and every customer to record my calls if requested as I have nothing to hide as all I am doing is diagnosing a fault.

I just have to laugh at that piece of nonsense and at the people who spout this myth .It's nearly as bad as those businesses who come up with their own store policies(or those that sell customers, packages which don't exist ) ,completely flouting trading standards and consumer laws et all .

What a load of characters ,possibly influenced by watching trash like csi ?

Ofcom
As the ofcom site states
"It is not possible to provide comprehensive detail of that legislation here. Any person considering interception, recording or monitoring of telephone calls or e-mails is strongly advised to seek his/her own independent legal advice and should not seek to rely on the general information provided below"

So don't take those few ofcom FAQS as all there is on the matter of recording telephone calls. The same with having copies of emails sent and recieved(cases involving high corporate fraud involving emails as evidence ,did not need the consent of the accused !)

Re: 'Lifetime' Loyalty bundle

Just got back from Town Bristol and was set upon by the Talk Talk team, all Asian so I have not got a clue what their saying and they can hardly understand me Good start.
In fact they were offering a life package deal and it was LIFE for Phone with free weekend and evening calls plus 24/7 free 0845 and 0870 calls and broadband for only £18.50. Now the thing that ****ed me off was he's insistence for my bank details, because I never had it he was going on at my partner for hers. I just told him you pushed it too far and went. But it was Life time

Similar hike here .. my bundle discount has just gone down from £8 to £7 , of course this coincides with Aprils price rise on my phone from £11 to £11.99 .. so a total rise of £2.

One expected , but the other unexpected ..

Re: 'Lifetime' Loyalty bundle

Hi Guys. Am having very similar problems with VM. Have been with them for years (original an NTL customer) The package then was for the L TV (which at the time included catch up tv) Phone and L Broadband. Approx 12 months ago my bill jumped by almost £10.00. I phoned their '' customer services dept'' (HA HA) to be informed that the increase was for the catch up tv. After several heated telephone conversations during which I stated that it was wrong for them to simply remove something in the original agreement and finally asked them to cancell the service I was told that due to being a long term customer they would include the catch up tv in the price for TV L. Ok Thats good.... But today I open my V M bill to find that the £10.00 increase has been put on again. Phone CS to be informed that whilst indeed the system shows that they had agreed catch up tv would be included in my package at no extra cost (as per the original agreement) the additional cost was down to a small price increase of approx £2.99 and £7.00 for something called teleport. I asked them to cancell the teleport then only to be told that teleport is the new version of catch up tv and therefore the agreement for it to be included is no longer valid. ???????. So I told them I would cancell the contract due to their unfair changes and switch to SKY ( who incidently have offered their v+ box 10mb broadband and phone with free evening and weekend calls for £33.00 a month.... Am Paying £44.24 for the virgin pack with standard box) and their reply Quote we can disconnect the service for you now and forward you a bill of £55.00 for the disconection fee. What Any one want to comment.
