With Direct Debit, it's Virgin Media's responsibility.

I'm not sure I understand why you can't use DD rather than Standing Order?

I dont use direct debit for a few reasons. The main one is i dont want to open my account to them.I had Bt internet for 1 year when the contract finished i contacted them to stop and close my account. They carried on billing my dads card.Took a couple of months for him to notice it so never use dd now.Took some effort to get the money back of bt.Im not very happy since virgin media took over my system was down for 3 weeks at one time this year.To top it of when the engineer come to install the new modem he didnt even get the internet running he just left saying you will have to ring virgin to get it online. Also i have been with these for years during the old cable days and have never had the phone line setup with virgin as i dont have any phoneline in my house. On my virgin media bill its shows the phoneline price in my package.

Re: Watch Your Bills

In regards to the non-existant phoneline it used to be that ntl charged the same for certain services whether you had the phone or not.

But that hasn't been the case for over 2 years, so you could phone them up and get them to remove the phoneline from the account

So your dad's experience of DD with ONE company, not Virgin Media, has put YOU off DD for life.

In my experience, DD is an invaluable way to manage your finances that has NEVER let me down.

That's what I got. I also paid by direct debit, on time. The reason it was added to mine though was because although they were supposed to credit my account with the amount of the V+ box they were trying to charge me for, they didn't do it properly, so tried to charge me the following month and so also added on the late payment fee.

I swear it's their way of getting through the recession. Things are apparently looking good for them financially - I wonder why?

As per my other thread - http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/34...-watchdog.html - I have now complained to BBC Watchdog about this. I suggest anyone else having these issues does the same to get this properly investigated.
