Re: Very distressed Mum - advice needed please
Cheers Rob, that's very reassuring. I agree it's best to exhaust all official routes first before calling on the good will of your contacts. Will let you know when I hear. I think she has to recharge the phone - she's caned it this morning calling Virgin!
I'll report back soon as I know anything.
Keep up the great work

Thank you Lauzjp!
PS Do you support football? Noticed you're in Luton. Gutted you went down and hope the Hatters get back in the League asap.

We often get the players popping into the shops where I work, but I don't follow the team enough to know who they are sadly!
I feel sorry for the teams Luton will be playing against; 3000 away fans (and sad to say, that does include a firm) anyone?
anyhoot - Toffeewoman, I hope you manage to get your Mum's monthly bill down, ours wasn't even half that when we were on sky sports, 2mb, & landline

Re: Very distressed Mum - advice needed please
Hello all
Very sorry not to have come back to you sooner with the update - I've had several other issues to deal with.
The good news is it is now all sorted out. My mum's phone went dead pretty much the next day. She contacted Virgin and they sent around an engineer, luckily the same guy that had looked at the box last time. He was really good (left her his mobile number should she have any more probs) and found that her line had been tampered with. It had been moved from where he last saw it. He moved it and buried it out of obvious sight, and let Virgin know that the calls were not down to her and about the tampered box.
I also told her to speak to Customer Retentions regarding how much she pays. Upshot is her payments are significantly lower now (sorry I don't remember the exact figure) and those charges were removed from her account. Now Setanta's bit the dust she has a further tenner a month to play with too!
I'd like to thank you all for your help and support - it made a huge difference to what felt pretty insurmountable at the time.
Thanks again and good job!

Great to hear it's all sorted, that'll be a load off both your minds.

Re: Very distressed Mum - advice needed please
Sincere thanks. It was a great reassurance to have the advice given here.
And Mum's mind's at rest now. She's got one of those mobility scooters, and she goes out terrorising the village! A bit of a new lease of life/independence and a currently problem-free Virgin Media account! Excellent!
Take care and all the best

:cheerleader: great news!
I can't wait to get older and get one of them scooters. Was considering a double one, but they're limited edition (!) and £4k!

Re: Very distressed Mum - advice needed please
LOL! She's not far from you SB - don't be surprised if you see her shooting past yer window!
Lauz - She got a bit of a bargain from someone who was far too large for it so sold it privately (must've looked a bit like a scooter enema - ouch!). Once Ma tried it out, that was it - no stoppin' her now. Never thought I'd see the day! Didn't know they did double ones... Cripes. Well, when the baby-boomers start buying them up there'll be no room for pedestrians!

Re: Very distressed Mum - advice needed please
I was one of those who were billed for premium calls. Am glad your problem got resolved. I do advise you keep an eye on the bill though,as VM started charging me for 0870/0871/0844 calls after the premium bar was applied.
Escalated things to CISAS who decided that I had to pay up. Would have taken it to court except that my solicitor advised me to drop it, which I did as I have other matters to resolve at the moment.
Ask VM to set up a credit limit on the account.

Those numbers are not classed as 'premium' numbers. The premium bar blocks numbers starting 09x only
