Re: requested to cancel all services- do THEY call back?

You should have just asked Customer Support to put you through to retentions, gone through the motions of how long you've been a customer etc..... and then asked what can they do for you! as you have seen lots of offers / promotions on the main web page.

Was I just unlucky with who I got on the other end?

I'll go with your suggestion of honesty as the best policy and ask for a price reduction

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the suggestion, but Its almost the same price, and I'm more concerned about reducing my monthly costs rather than getting more for the same money. I'm happy with what I'm getting, just not the price

Thanks though
there is a £56 pacakage..gives you XL broadband..XL TV (no sports/movies) and XL phone

Re: requested to cancel all services- do THEY call back?

They called back yesterday, knocked off the fee for my second STB, so I save 9.50 a month, which isn't a huge saving but every little helps so I can't complain

Thanks to all that commented on this thread with tips and suggestions. Much appreciated

Why should VM lower there prices to pamper for those that lie through there back teeth, while other's that don't lie pay the full price ?

Everyone complains that VM don't upgrade there networks, Well here's there reason why they cannot afford to upgrade

Yep retentions are no logner allowed to give silly deals out..and to stop people from threatening to cancel just to get some great deal they just say no and go ahead with the cancel

Re: requested to cancel all services- do THEY call back?

It's not wrong actually. Not all of Customer Relations have access anymore. And if it goes the way I think it will soon no-one will

Virgin have finally realised that disconnecting a customer is no greater loss to the business than keeping them with a unprofitable deal (as I'm sure most of the Customer Relation bundles are)

I think you'll find your wrong, in nottingham, sheffield, manchester and lincoln (few other areas as well, though i dont know them all), they are -not- allowed to give retention deals out anymore, they just say yep thats fine account closed and thats that.

Only deals you'll get in those areas now are the ones on the site or £10 off.

It will soon be all areas switching over to that as well.

Starting to get rid of the freeloaders.

I really can't wait for it to happen either. Just can't believe it's taken them 20 months to work out something I could have told them straight away

Financially perhaps, but I would've thought big companies take other factors into account in their aim to grow bigger

If they didn't make any money on a particular customer, I'm sure they would rather have that customer on their books than let them go onto a competitor's books

Re: requested to cancel all services- do THEY call back?

They offered me a deal on my 20mb. I was ready to be disconnected on the 16th of this month, but I got a letter asking me to sleep on it. I phoned them back and they said I could have my 20mb for £29 instead of £37.

They should get rid of the cloners and box chippers as well.

But as for getting rid of the scammers at least its a move in the right direction. Would love to hear some of the calls as they say "Fine when do you want the disconnection to be" Then hear the lying gits back track like mad
