even you've noticed
MD's may differentiate with stores (which are franchised and some participate and others don't) but they don't differentiate with people

not being a VM employee i'm not aware of any discrete bodies they have floating around - but how you can say "clearly" when it endorses every word i've said - it is transparent that even VM acknowledge the alienation of their own customer base - they're just too stupid to notice the reasons/cure
it's new customers only policies

They do. If I buy a Big Mac this week and it costs £2.99 and next week/month/year a Big Mac is offered for £1.50, I couldn't go back and get my money back on the Big Mac that cost £2.99, therefore the £1.50 price is for new customers only

Re: V+ Service Fee
Ben, Why don't you just give up on JethroUK?
He is correct that existing customers are given no benefit for their loyalty but that is not a Virgin Media unique.
All of UK business does not value customer loyalty and gives better deals to new customers. That's just the way it is.
JethroUK has to just accept that. He doesn't have to accept that any more than I do - installed V+ in March 2006, had to pay £100 in June 2007 to reduce my monthly outgoings by £10 per month.
That's life. The cost of being an early adopter.
BTW I have not yet bought an HD TV. It might have cost me £2000 a couple of years ago but now cost me around £500. Should I complain or get upset?

not at all - you could buy one next week for special offer of £1.50 - just like everyone else and unlike VM who are distinctly excluding some people

Of course you are quite right - i even said right at the very beginning that some companies are quite prepared to discard their customer base if they think they will benefit overall - and there are companies that are failing for no other reason than trying to hold onto a poor customer base - my objection is with those trying to disguise it as anything other (bulls***ting), because it don't wash

You are asking that Virgin change the existing customer price which in the McDonalds case would be the one I had already bought. Any purchase of a new one means I am a new customer to McDonalds

Re: V+ Service Fee
McDonalds = Food provider (could be argued)
Virgin = Service provider
The two are different and cant be compared, the priciples are different. Virgin dont sell you anything physical, the box is not yours to keep

nope - i'm suggesting VM charge all customers the same price - if that means VM changing their policy, then they should - anything other is prejudicial - in this case against existing customers
new customers only policies - by definition alienates the whoooooooooooooole of the customer base - fact!

They are, theyre charging the one off fee to bring them in line with others who have paid that fee and then they will be on the same monthly charge as well.

Err ... well I've been a loyal customer since Telewest days (at least 10 years?) and I have never received a phone call offering me any 'deals'!
I agree with Jethro on this .. New Customers Only is an awful way to run a business in my view ..
