Am I cynical or what!

VM announced paperless billing with a £1 discount if you use it.....

Just had a letter today saying my charges are going up by £1 thus wiping out my £1 discount!!!

Have the prices not gone up by £1.50? Or is that for people with the XL packages?

I suppose no other company has increased prices in the past 12months?

Re: £1 off for paperless billing...by the way, we are increasing our charges by £1

Um BT did?

Quote:
From 1st April 2008 line rental for each line will increase by 75p per month. This means
that line rental will be £11.75 per month. This increase can be offset by signing up for
paper-free billing (see details of discount below – to be eligible for paper-free billing
discount, you must elect to pay your bill by either direct debit or monthly payment
plan).
Which is 75p more rental

Quote:
From 1st April 2008, the monthly paper-free billing discount on line rental charges will
increase from 50p to £1.25 <snip> provided you pay your bills by direct debit or monthly payment plan and are signed up
to paper-free billing
Which is 75p more discount

So effectively this year - there has been a zero increase.

(Wish I could say the same about my rail season ticket, where they've even removed the discount for poor punctuality and reliability...)

Angry Re: £1 off for paperless billing...by the way, we are increasing our charges by £1

I don't want to start another thread, but the thing that sticks in my craw is VM's informing me (in a circular from Trevor Elliott) that "there will also be a small increase in the daytime rates ... from 3.25 pence per minute to 4 pence per minute." This is in the sentence after the one that begins "But, the good news is ..."

From 3.25 ppm to 4 ppm is just over 23%. Nearly 10 times the official inflation rate. This VM calls a SMALL increase? Either no-one at VM can do basic arithmetic, or they hope no-one out here can.

Mind you, maybe I should say nothing, in case they decide to bring in a BIG increase instead.

Re: £1 off for paperless billing...by the way, we are increasing our charges by £1

The increase to 4ppm for daytime calls is no different than either BT, TalkTalk or Sky's daytime rate when outside a phone plan

Unhappy Re: £1 off for paperless billing...by the way, we are increasing our charges by £1

It's not so much the rate I object to, it's VM's offensive contention that a hike of 23% is small, and their assumption that everyone would be too dumb to notice.

Besides, just because BT, TalkTalk and Sky have a 4p rate doesn't mean that all suppliers should. Or is the presumption that price-fixing is OK? It wasn't acceptable for Virgin Atlantic and British Airways ...

Was it not virgin who spilt the beans on the price fixing? seems two faced to me.
You are ofcourse right, just because one company does it does not mean they all need to, indeed it could be argued that not increasing prices could bring in more customers.

Virgin Atlantic (airlines) and Virgin Media (TV, BB, Phone and mobile) as companies have no connection at all.

So what is your point?
