Amazing!!!

Been a customer of NTL/C&W/VM etc for around 10+ years now, and in all that time I have never not payed a bill, not even payed it late

I used to get my BB from a STB and have recently moved to a modem (and not without problems...but thats another story)...so once I moved to a modem, I cancelled my TV services and kept the 4mb BB and phone. They now bill me through email rather than through the post now...which I find in itself stupid that they do this.

My email as follows...

Quote:
Dear Mr XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Virgin Media Account Number XXXXXXX

We're just writing to let you know that we're now ready to take a payment of £50.00 for your Virgin Media services. It'll be taken on or around 11/04/2008.

The good news is, you don't need to do a thing - it's all ready to go.

And just so you know, you may notice these details on your bank statement:

Originators Identification Number: XXXXXX for Virgin Media Payments Ltd

Payer's Account Name: Mr XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Payer's Reference Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
How ironic, they cut my services tonight for not paying my bill...but yet they say in the email that its due out on the 11/04/2008 and I dont need to do anything

Managed to get a temporary connection put on till tomorrow and have to ring credit dept or something like that. VM are really turning what used to be a very good service into something laughable.

I dont know what to say about the rest of your problem, but I rather like e-billing I mean it saves you money as you dont need to pay hidden charges( admin, postage ect) and it saves paper enviro friendly

Re: Amazing!!!

And that will be probably the only e-mail you get.

That e-mail is generated by an ex-ntl system that controls standalone broadband billing and control for Areas 20-22 and control only for areas 30,31

From next month, your modem broadband account will be moved back onto the same bill as your phone, for which you will still be getting paper copies. So apart from the TV service being stopped it will go back to exactly how it was before (one bill and one Direct Debit)

Re: Amazing!!!

Yeah but £50 is two months of the charge (Any discounts the OP may have will be on his phone account before anyone says anything) for BB L (4MB)

The reason it will have been restricted is they would have had to set up a new Direct Debit for the modem account, which probably didn't activate till AFTER the first bill was generated.

However the system (for some reason lost in the mists of time) doesn't e-mail to tell you that a bill is due UNLESS it is generated when the direct debit is already active, and that the bill is coming out via the D/D

Therefore the first bill notification the OP gets is for two months, one month of which is overdue (through no fault of the OP) and therefore it restricted the account

One of the many reasons it is going
