Can they do this????

I closed my account with virgin media at the end of December and paid up what was owing till end of January, end of January came and got a Bill so phoned them and they claimed no record was in there hands and asked if I would forward them a copy of the letter I sent them. Now they are threatening me with action unless I pay up the best part of £200 (for services I dont recieve as there equipement is boxed up for them to collect and has been since December.

How can they get away with this?

Re: Can they do this????

How did you cancel?
If it was by letter, was it sent recorded?
If it was by phone, did you get the persons name? Or the date and time of the call?

If you havent got any of that information above, it would be difficult to prove. I would make a complaint by phone to the retentions team stating exactly when you gave your 30 days notice, followed up by a letter sent recorded delivery stating everything that was said on the call.

Unfortunatly letters can and do get lost in the post if that was how you gave your notice.

Cancelled in writing on the 20th December but did not send recorded, (copy of letter still sat on hard drive.

Sent a copy of this letter via fax and mail end of january with no reply.

Re: Can they do this????

I would phone retentions, explain what has happened and see what they can do.
