Random billing letter: oh you havent been paying enough!

I received a letter today saying something along the lines of:

Oh we've been looking at our accounts and it seems that we haven't been billing you correctly for your phone services, but don't worry - we're not going to back date this!

Blah blah - bill is going to be adjusted.

That's all very well...... if i actually HAD a virginmedia phone line! (only have 20Mb broadband).

Is this a common occurrence?

I'm dreading calling them, I'm still recovering from last time lol

Re: Random billing letter: oh you havent been paying enough!

Unfortunately it is bad wording in the letter. It will be in relation to your broadband

For what is going on see this thread http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/34...discounts.html

EDIT: another one here http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/59...r-service.html

Basically they are cleaning up accounts, removing discounts that are not valid based on Virgin's official price list

Re: Random billing letter: oh you havent been paying enough!

*sigh* i knew this would happen >.<

Basically i got put on £25 a month, because VM had screwed me over and were charging me for about 6 months while i was 'between properties'. I'm hoping they don't just dump me back on the 'normal' price and 'ignore' my circumstances..... i'll be p****d if they do!!!

Re: Random billing letter: oh you havent been paying enough!

Pooper the same has happened to me, I have escalated a complaint against them through ofcom.

My discount was given by VM, ntl was dead and buried only in the wording, in my own belief it is still ntl in vm clothes.

I got the same botched up letter about my telephone service, I am with BT, it was only when I questioned it that they said it was to do with my broadband.

I was given 12 months discount last year by vm, now they have decided to withdraw it claiming it was a mistake, first of all they claimed the discount should have only been for a month, which there is no way that I would have accepted that offer, then yesterday during a telephone call from vm about my complaint it was quoted that the offer was now a 6 month, not a one month or the 12 month offer I was promised last year, the person went out of their way to explain that if it had been a 12 month offer then that would have required a new 12 month contract, again that was not mentioned last year so I told the adviser yesterday that at no stage was a new contract mentioned.

I am now tempted to pay the £10 and get my file under the rights to access because they really are taking the proverbial.

All I can say is once you find out the true reason for the letter you either accept as a fact of life what they say or you can go outside of vm with a complaint, maybe if more people do go outside of vm then some questions will be asked as to how so many customers can be wrong in what they were told.

Good luck either way

Just a side note to this. Aparently theres been a a mistake with some of these letters being sent out.

If any ones got one of these letters and they were offered the free upgrade to the XL tv for a year and its due to come to a end about now, then they may have been sent one of these letters. As they have removed the discount they've been sent out

Akia thanks for that.

My discount was not meant to end until september, also would it not be nice in the first place to send the right letter out? after all vm claim to have been carefully checking their accounts, I could say be more careful how you check vm, instead of seeing pounds shillings and pence see customers being ripped off, and also when sending a letter make sure it refers to the correct service.
Thank god I do not have my telephone with that lot !

Re: Random billing letter: oh you havent been paying enough!

I got a random bill for £41 this month (should be £25) so i'll be calling tomorrow....

If they dont put me back to me agreed discounted rate (for billing me while i was no longer a customer) i'll just cancel.
