Overcharged by £75

I was browsing the Virgin Media website yesterday and noticed that you can pay a one off fee for the V+ box and not pay the £10 a month (I'm on TV XL) so I thought I'd go for it, the website said the charge was £100.

I rang them up explained about the page I'd found on the website and the CS guy went about sorting it out, he came back and told me I'd been paying £15 a month for my V+ box for the last 15 months and it should have been £10 a month. He sorted me out the £75 refund there and then and also said the one off charge had been reduced to £75! Did he do that as a good will gesture or has it been reduced to £75?

Either way, he was very apologetic and my monthly bill is even lower now I'm not paying the extra £15 a month I had been!

£31 a month for V+ TV XL, Standard Telephone, 10Mb BB and an extra V box with TV XL!

Re: Overcharged by £75

Nope the conversion fee should still be £100.

It is the install fee for new customers that is currently £75, so you got a good deal there.

But it does seem bonkers that the conversion fee is higher than the install fee. when it was £150 for install it was the other way round which made sense

Seems like an OK deal then!

I've just realised, I'm sure I paid a big lump sum when I first got the box 15 months ago too, might have to have a look back at some bills and make another phone call!

Old install deal was

Install cost for new customers - £25
Install cost for TV customers keeping their set-top box as an additional service - free
Install cost for TV customers not keeping their set-top box as an additional service - £75

so depending on what it was you may have paid £75

Ahah, well I kept my old box and had them put it in another room so I probably didn't pay anything, it was so long ago now!

You will have paid a lot because the installation charge was around £60 if I remember correctly prior to July 2007 and you will have paid more than a month's charge as charges are in advance.
