Has this happened to anyone else?

Has this happened to anyone else???
I noticed that my phone bills fluctuate from month to month-it shouldn't as I get free phone calls!!!
I never ring mobiles numbers-0845 or 0901 or 0906-just land line numbers.
I rang VM & asked how come it changes-seems I have been phoning a number I have never heard of! I had to agree to pay £2 for a copy of my bill as they would NOT tell me the number I am supposed to have rang. The letter arrived today & the number is 08444 099 6984 I have never rang this number & do not know whom it is. I checked my diary & the calls were made when I have not been here. I rang VM & other than offering to refund the price of the call on Jan's bill said they have no idea whose number it is. No-there's no one else has access to the house/phone!
I decided to ring the number & see for myself..................An answering machine.........this is a test number & is not active at the moment. So after several calls to VM, waiting 2 weeks for a copy of my bill, I am still none the wiser as to who/what is this number & HOW does it keep getting on my bill? VM said other than refunding me the price of the call there is nothing they can do???????????????????????????????????
Maybe I should change to another compan
y!
