A little help please
Hi, I'm new to the Cable Forum (and forums in general for that matter) but I was hoping someone could help clear a few things up for me.
I'm an existing customer of Virgin and have been for the best part of ten years. I'm currently paying £38.96 a month for L TV, M BB and XL Phone and the service charges on my bill appear as follows:
Line Rental: £11.00
Talk Unlimited: £7.95
4p Plan TV L BB M Savings: -£9.49
TV Size L: £11.50
Broadband Size M: £18.00
I want to reduce my TV size to M as I rarely watch anything not on Freeview and would instead like V+ installed which would be far more useful. I would also like to increase my Broadband size to L as within a few months (when the speed increases to 10MB) I should be getting speeds 5x that of what I am getting now, for a cheaper price. Am I right in assuming this? Also, would I still get the £9.49 deduction from my bill with this new combination of services. I'm not sure how clear I've made this so below is what I think my bill should come out like using the prices given on the Virgin Media website.
Line Rental: £11.00
Talk Unlimited: £7.95
4p Plan TV M BB L Savings: -£9.49
V+: £5.00
Broadband Size L: £11.50
V+ Install: £75
Is this right? All the ins and outs of deals for new customers, existing customers and those acquired through retentions have me slightly baffled so I was just hoping someone could help clear things up for me.
Sorry for babbling and thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.

Re: A little help please
Thats an old discount and AFAIK you would have to have the L TV package to keep it. Something maybe to look for is the 2 for 20 with free TV
£20 for package
£5 V+
£7.95 XL phone
total £32.95 with £75.00 install

Re: A little help please
Thankyou for your reply. I didn't realise there was a 2 for £20 for BB and Phone, I thought it was just for TV and Phone. Am I definately legible for the £75 install? If so, when is this offer expiring so I know whether I need to get my skates on ringing Virgin up.
Also, I know this is a bit cheeky but is there any chance of me being able to have the L TV package for £2.01 (£11.50 - £.9.49 discount) or even for free on some sort of loyalty deal?

Re: A little help please
Just got off the phone to Virgin Media. They wouldn't give me the 2 for £20 offer as it's only for existing customers. However, the guy I spoke to said he'd see what he could do for me and offered me Talk Unlimited, L BB, M TV, Talk International and Talk Mobile for £26.95 (not that I particularly wanted the latter two but it came as part of the bundle). With V+ this comes to a total of £31.95 a month, which actually works out a pound cheaper than if I did get the 2 for £20 deal. My TV has been altered already (TV L channels removed) but my BB is still the same despite him telling the changes had already been made when I asked when they would come into effect. I'm willing to wait until the end of the month though for my BB speed to increase before making any complaints. The only thing I'm nervous of now is seeing the bill as I'd never heard of the deal he gave me and am somehow dubious of its existence seeing as it works out cheaper than the deal I actually asked for. Does anyone know anything more about this deal?

There's a retentions deal that includs BBI M, Talk Unlimited, Talk International and Talk Mobile for £19.95. With the upgrade to BBI L this would take it up to £26.95. The TV is free anyway with the line rental as you know so yes this deal is legit.

Re: A little help please
Thanks for the confirmation. If it's a retention deal do you know how long it'll last? Also, if I wanted to change my services in the future e.g. downgrade BB would I be at risk of losing it?

Re: A little help please
Try rebooting your cable modem to get the faster speed, leave it 10s after powerdown to clearup a bit.
You will not need to rerun registration, just open your browser and surf.
If you are still using a STB, when the 10meg upgrade comes, ask for a swap.
And welcome to CF

Re: A little help please
Thanks for the welcome
Still no luck. Do you think I should ring them up or leave it a week or so?
I have an old ntl:home 120 Cable Modem so I should be alright without an upgrade shouldn't I?
Also, slightly off topic, but having upgraded to BB L should I not be entitled to BB extras such as PCguard Total?

To qualify for the discount you need to have the minimum services noted above i.e. -
BB M
Talk Unl
Talk Int
Talk Mob
So you'll be able to downgrade your BB to M anytime after the first 30 days if you wish.
As it's a retention deal, it's 'for life'.
