VM - Removing All Discounts by end of January?

Dear All

Over on MSE, a poster has said that at the end of this month VM are removing all retention deals from accounts to try to standardise pricing and he/she is organising a petition - does anyone know if this is true please or just scaremongering?

Many thanks

MrB

Re: VM - Removing All Discounts by end of January?

Scaremongering. What they are doing though is removing the option of putting on half price broadband for 3 months and telling the customer to phone back every 3 months etc

Customer Relations will still be price matching etc but all bundles they have don't discount single services. They are however for life and recontracting for 12 months

To get any deal out of Virgin in future you will usually have to take at least 2 services

If you read the thread that that person started here :http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=734485, you will a clearer idea why he is not happy

Oh and it was me that mentioned the removal of his specific discount. I never said ALL discounts

About time too.

They DO seem to be offering new contract bundles, no mention of them being discounted.

In October I was told new deals would be coming out "next month". Waited but no info, so in Dec I rang and asked what the new deals are.........result, put on new contract (confirmed by letter), TV XL, BB L, phone TEW for £35pm.........imo beats Sky hands down.

Re: VM - Removing All Discounts by end of January?

Without discounts, their prices will not be competitive? For example, XL TV, XL BB, XL Phone = £76.45 per month according to their website (I know discounts should be possible for packs but don't seem to be able to do differnt combinations on their website, for example, changing their Bundles as changing one item removes the combined discount).

BT Phone Line = £11
Sky 6 pack = £21
Sky Talk Unlimited = £5
Sky BB up to 16MB (I know, slower and ADSL so not entirely comparable!) = £10
= £47

They're not removing all discounts...

They are removing the short term discounts such as half price broadand. Bundled discounts are staying.

Re: VM - Removing All Discounts by end of January?

I am in the middle of trying to take over my daughters account as she's left home & I want to add a phone & I've just been told that from Feb 4th you will get 20meg b/band & phone & free TV for £20 so to wait till then before I add the phone.
Seems too good to be true & as I spent all morning on the phone to VM & getting different versions & getting cut off & then reconnected this morning.
Each VM CS tell you that the previous person you spoke to got it wrong & they will sort it properly for you ,lol

Well, guess what, I can't now take over my daughters account as she has set up another at her new address & you can't hold two accounts even at different addresses apparently so I have been informed that I will be cut off by the morning & then have to start a new account which probably won't be activated for days
I would have thought that as I already have TV & b/band connected they could just switch it back on straight away & then add the phone when an engineer is available but oh no -thats too easy
