Unauthorised withdrawral from my debit card

Well ive been with virgin/ntl for many years now. and only had some minor issues. how ever this is the first time ive had this kind of thing happen. a couple of months ago i decided to go the whole wack with virgin and have the TV and Telephone on top of the broadband which i already had, and it was a realy good price in comparison to sky. the first months bill was fine, but because of being between here and australia i have to phone up and pay by card because i never know which country i will be paid in, and i have never given them permission to automaticly bill my credit card

when i got round to paying it, i had received another bill which was incorrect. so i phoned up paid £50 off of my last bill, but said i would not be paying any more until the issue had been sorted out. the customer service guy agreed and said that would be fine. then 1 week later £130.11 goes missing from my debit card, only to find it was virgin that took the payment without my concent and for the wrong value any how. I called my bank and they have said that it would take around 45 days to sort out the issue, and advised me to contact virgin and ask them to refund the ammount. But virgin are unwilling to do this. So now im stuck, i have other bills that are supposed to be coming through, and now with virgin actualy sorting out the incrorrect bill, i am almost £40 in credit with them.

I just can not trust them at the moment, and at least with sky they never took money out of my account without my autorisation.

i have tried again today to sort the issue out but the guys in india dont seem to understand you cant just go and take money from someones debit card without permission. So im afraid its the cancelations department tommorow.

Has anyone else had any issues like this? How did you resolve the issue?

Regards

Paul

Re: Unauthorised withdrawral from my debit card

I had the same thing, but not with Virgin. I told the company to either refund the money immediately, or I would report it as an unautherised withdrawral to the police, as they had used my details without permission. They did refund the money and it was back in my account within a couple of days.
If they don't play ball on the next phone call, that (in my opinion) is they way to go.

Re: Unauthorised withdrawral from my debit card

Though the police will just tell you to inform your bank. New rules on reporting credit card fraud now mean a member of the public CANT report it to the police, This is now the banks job "if it sees fit".
