Question Returning Cable TV Box to ntl?

I've recently cancelled my TV package with ntl, but I'm keeping the phone and broadband, as I have no problem with those services. However, I'mn having some problems getting ntl to come to pick up my cable tv box. They have now failed to come twice now, the first was 19/3/05, the second time was this Saturday, 2/4/05.

Someone is supposed to be calling me back today before 2pm, but I'm not holding my breath. So, assuming they don't call back, I'd like to know what I can do about actually getting someone to come to my house to pick up the old box. Are there specific phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses etc to use, and are there any ways to guarantee they will turn up?

Thanks,

Dave.

Which area are you in?...some areas have collection services. By the t&c's, you are actaully responsible by returning the box yourself.

Agreed, but I've never been given an address either to drop it off at or to send it to.

... and that's three different areas

So if my area doesn't have a colection system, does that mean I have to mail it back to them, or drop it in to one of their offices?

Acording to that .... any of their offices.

Hi DigitalDave,

They must have a collection system if they have said they will pick it up for you, twice now. I wouldn't wait for the phone call. I would phone them back up and request to speak to a supervisor and ask them what their returns policy is, and whether they do collect or not - if they collect ask them why they have failed to collect on two occasions now and that you cannot afford to waste anymore time, staying in and waiting for someone who 'might' attend.

I tried that when they didn't come on Saturday, but the best that was on offer was that the guy I spoke to would contact the collcetions people to find out why they hadn't come before, and that he would phone me back. Well, he's just phoned back (pleasantly surprised), and say that he's had no response to his original enquiry, but he's booked for someone to come on Wednesday evening between 6 and 9, and if there's any more problems, he'll call me back. To be honest, I am a bit more inclined to believe him now, as he did call back as promissed in the agreed timescale. So fingers crossed...

I'll let you know how it goes .

Re: Returning Cable TV Box to ntl?

They actually picked mine up without me asking them to!

When I left I was going to drop them into the local office and purposely didn't book a pickup but a week later I was woken up by a scruffy looking guy wanting the two boxes back.

Re: Returning Cable TV Box to ntl?

Update:

I had a phone call from someone at the company that does collections for ntl in this are, and they arranged for someone to come out tonight to collect the box. The guy came at 18:30 as promised. Hurrah! Makes me wonder if someone read this thread .
