Being Undercharged for Service

I recently downgraded my broadband from 750K to 300K. I phoned NTL to confirm that this had taken place and they confirmed that I was now on the 300K service although I noticed though that I was actually still getting the 750K service. I waited for my bill to come in and saw that I was now being charged for the 300K service as requested.

Now, im quite happy to plead ignorance and continue with the 750K service for the price of the 300K, but is there any way that NTL could come back to me in the future and demand back-dated money because I was under-paying for broadband?

its an NTL Home:200

i'd rather not cycle the power 'just incase', i really just needed to know if NTL could try and claim money from me for their mistake.

well to be honest they are hopless at billing as far as you are know you have asked for 300k and being billed for 300k then enjoy no doubt there will over charge some other punter.

Re: Being Undercharged for Service

It is possible that your modem will be suspended by fraud and security if the difference between what you are paying for and what you are receiving is noticed.

If you PM me the mac address i can make sure the modem goes at 300k- if you leave it you run the risk of being caught and it will be lots of hassle to resolve.

But upto you...!

Re: Being Undercharged for Service

You make it sound like im some kind of shady thief, deliberately de-frauding NTL and stealing bandwidth from them. I simply requested a downgrade of my service and they failed to do it. I have spoken to them twice now and both times I was told that I was definitely on the 300K service, albeit im actually receiving 750K. Should I continue calling them twice a day for the next year to try and resolve this? They have a log of my phone calls requesting, then confirming, my downgrade, so should I be 'caught'(?) as you gracefully put it, then they can see that i done as much as i should have.

If NTL ever get on to you regarding this just claim that you are one of the majority of customers that Bill Goodland said was not tech enough to know anything about computing.

Re: Being Undercharged for Service

I didn't think you could downgrade to 300k anymore - that if you changed, you would move to the 1M service ?

Re: Being Undercharged for Service

it was a few months ago, when you were still able to downgrade to the 300K service. I also downgraded my tv and phone at the same time and these were done with no problems.

Re: Being Undercharged for Service

ive recently upgraded to 3mb over the last month, i received/payed my first 3mb bill....
£12.21,
is there a promotion on?
if its the same next month guess ill have to tell them, makes a change to be billed too little rather than too much.
