yes , but it would be interesting to ask and see if the credit could be refunded to a bank account , or maybe keep quiet and get free internet etc till the credit runs out

Re: 2 meg upgrade Billing Bromley platform STB
lol sorry very off topic :p
nah i have a feeling zeph might be the admin of a cs server i play at, as i remember him mentioning having 2mbps ntl, delete mods if you feel it's needless
sorry!
still though be wary about ntl's billing, my dad had a strange occurence with it...
we'd had ntl bb at our address for over a year, via STB, but he moved back to his mums for about 6 months, while there he opened a new account, cancelling the old one, and had 600kbps service via a standalone modem.
few months later he moved back in, and moved the internet with him, engineer came etc. re-fitted it, but the strange thing was he wasn't being charged anything for it, no statements came through, and no money was debited from his account so we were quite happy, having free internet access, until 12 months along the line, he got a letter at the old address (his mums) stating that he owed ntl approx £170 in unpaid bills.
turned out they had moved over the hardware i.e. cable modem, but not bothered to change billing over to the new address, hence the bank wouldn't allow the debits because ntl were using the old address
so be wary when it comes to ntl's billing procedures

Re: 2 meg upgrade Billing Bromley platform STB
Now, my NTLly friends...
Bill came today.
"Broadband Internet 300K (note the incorrect case) - £5.14
Broadband Internet 1MB - £12.85
Broadband Internet 1MB - £17.99"
Now, I see that they've done part of the month at 300k, and part at 1Mb. But why are they charging another month in advance?

Re: 2 meg upgrade Billing Bromley platform STB
Nottingham customers tend to have broadband charged in arrears and if you upgrade your speed they are moving you to payment in advance. I have just had the same happen with the bill I received on Saturday and am not amused. It would have been nice of NTL to have included an explanation of what is happening and more preferably have written to every customer who is being charged in arrears telling them about the move to payment in advance.
When I got the bill and saw the payment due it made me look at what I was getting for my money and prompted me to look at my telephone provider. I have stuck with NTL for the phone although my bill would be slightly cheaper with BT due to NTLs connection charge on some calls and BT having the friends and family discounts together with the ability to use many 3rd party providers. Free fully itemised online billing with BT is the final clincher.
So, well done NTL for not letting us know that you are going to alter our billing and hope that the extra months broadband charge that you are getting out of me this month will some way compensate for the loss of all revenue from me for the telephone service.

Re: 2 meg upgrade Billing Bromley platform STB
Hi There,
I've been reading this forum for a little while now and I recieved my bill this morning.
It doesn't quite make sense and I'll probably end up calling Customer Services.
I've been billed twice for the same date range: £24.99 for 750k and £24.99 for the 2MB.
Now I'm sure we have to pay up front as when I've upgraded in the past e.g from the old 300k to the 750k you were billed a month up front.
So why am I being billed up front again? Does that mean I get a month refund on my next bill for the old 750 speed? I upgraded on the 8th and they never said anything about the billing as it's a free upgrade.
