wrong broadband tarriff
I downgraded to 'silver' before christmas last year and have been kept on the goldtarriff ever since - having my speed reduced but not my price. I finally lost my rag and phoned up saying I wanted to cancell all services. The guy talked me out of it, gave me a "sweetener" and said it would be sorted.
January came round and the tarriff had remained the same with no "sweetener" so I rang up again. He said he would get it sorted this time. February came around and stil no change. Rang them up (retention) again - he assured me he would sort it this time. This months bill just arrived and the concessions have been added but the tarriff for the cable modem remains the same as it ever was. In fury I rang up again thinking to cancell the lot. The woman told me to wait till the guy had "looked into it" and he would phone me back. He never did, so I phoned up again and the office was close. Great

Re: wrong broaband tarriff
I can see why you're annoyed!
We have quite a few helpful ntl employees who post here, & hopefully one will be able to give you a hand with this

yes. At one point I was even considering upgrading back up to the gold service to get the actuall speed I was paying for. But then I thought why should Ias I hardly do anything other than look at web pages. In fact I could probably do with the basic bband level but have a feeling I will still end up paying for the gold level anyway
The only thing that stopped me telling them to rip the lot out was that I have a couple of tv boxes and you have to pay for the additional sky boxes, which is perhaps the one and only plus point for ntl

Re: wrong broadband tarriff
You have to pay for additional NTL boxes too though don't you?
As a new customer to Sky, my mum in law got a 2nd box for free when takingf out the multiroom subscription.

you have to pay for them in the sense that they normally charge £15/month for them yes. But you don't have to purchase them as such. I may look into what you say about that sky deal. "Retention" is presumably closed today as it is good friday so I may not bother getting myself wound up again today.
I was looking at someones skysystem last night - much better menus and displays. If you phone up ntl about it that all you get is your "frustration emphathised with" and "turn the box off for ten to 15 seconds sir"

Re: wrong broadband tarriff
Update:
I threw caution to the wind and phoned ntl up again. Was on the blower for 30 minutes, spoke to three poeple and one guy claims to have put me on the correct tarriff and backdated it to 22 december 2004, which was when I downgraded. He claims a refund will appear on the next bill. The speed has now changed fro 750 to 2 meg - which I verified using a Robin Walked simple speed test that a mate suggested.
So will wait and see what happens
