Would you let a 12 year old watch an 18 horror film ?

I was appalled last night when my 12 year old sister came home from a halloween party and told us that they had watched an 18 certifcate horror movie.
The parents were there and didnt do anything. If I was those parents I would not have allowed this at all.
There is nothing wrong with a good horror movie but I do find that its an 18 for a given reason in that at the age of 12 you are not likely to understand everything and horroer movies arent exactly the nicest things to watch, eg. scenes of blood, beatings, killings, etc.

May be those parents thought that as it is Halloween, the 18 certificate is not applicable. Idiots

Anyway, my point is I think this is wrong.
My sister ended up turning away and not watching the TV, thankfully.

What do you think ?
