Quake 4
Playing it today.Good looking game playable my gripe is it could easily be another doom 3 expansion.I know there both ID games but the similarity is far to apparent.Yes you get different enemy but they look similar to Dooms foes anyway.
Too much like Doom to do Quake fans justice IMO

It does look quite good indeedy - I've been playing it a bit earlier on.
MMMmmm - all I need now is for my missus to come in tonight and scare the crap out of me like when I was playing doom 3.
I'll no doubt work my way through quake 4

Re: Quake 4
Any free sample downloads out there to try before splashing out on the full thing. Had my fingers burnt far too many times to buy it based on recommendations of a few enthusiasts.

Indeed I don't think there is one yet, but I expect it will be along soon enough.

Re: Quake 4
I take it you haven't played doom 3 then? =)
I played for a few hours now, its so repetitive, its also more of the same D3 formula, they could of just called it Doom III mark 2 and I wouldn't of known any different, everything looks and sounds the same.
Graphics are amazing to an extent (just all bumpmapping and good lighting and shadows really) but nothing much more to it really. Theres no storyline, no great 'Yes I just beat that *******!!!' feeling, just drudging from level to level and you don't really care for the other characters/storyline (as opposed to Barney/Alyx in HL2).
Its all very very, mediocre :/
