Free gaming recommendations
I wonder if anyone could please give me any recommendations for free online games that are good. I am quite interested in this while concept of online gaming, not sure of the correct term, but these ones where the game continues whether you're logged on or not, like world of warcraft. But don't really want to pay. I am also unsure as to which ones are secure and which ones aren't.
Thanks.

Re: Free gaming recommendations
There is a very popular free game called Runescape, see here:- http://www.runescape.com/ You can play for free and it also gives you an option to subscribe to view more, but its not necessary. Its just like a stripped down version of World Of Warcraft.

Re: Free gaming recommendations
I'll 2nd Runescape, 2 of my kids have been playing it for months & for what membership costs (about £.50 a month) they now enjoy even more.
They play in rooms that have 26,000 others playing too.

One of my housemates works for Jagex, the company who made Runescape.

Cool. Done a great job, keeps the kids (and adults) quiet for hours on end. Top game.

Re: Free gaming recommendations
I've written a few pieces at runescape.wikicities.com - check out "Ace of Risk", and you too can do the Knight's Sword and smith full Iron armour while it's still worth wearing.

Re: Free gaming recommendations
You can play a surprising number of multiplayer demos of games free of charge. If the game is good enough, you get plenty of fun out of playing the limited number of options that the demo gives you.
One online game I play a lot is "Savage - Battle of Newerth" which is (depending on he role you play) a FPS-style or a RTS-style game.
The free demo can be downloaded from...
http://www.download.com/Savage-The-B...-10266038.html
But you will need to patch it here: http://www.s2games.com/savage/downloads.php
You may want to add some patches which give you extra info. Website is here... http://www.savageelite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=428
