Half Life: Black Mesa source
Way back, in the mists of time, when Valve first released Half Life 2, they released a version of Half Life that used the Source engine to beef up the graphics a little. They called this game "Half Life:Source". The trouble is, beyond making the graphics a little prettier, the updated game didn't really take advantage of the source engine.
So, a small group of designers and programmers decided to do something about that. They wanted a version of Half Life that would really take advantage of the Source Engine and, apparently, Valve agreed to let them do it.
Finally, after years of releasing impressive looking videos and screenshots, and saying it would be released "when it's done" (ala Duke Nukem Forever), they've given a release date and time.
Looks like it's about 3:46pm on 14th September.

Re: Half Life: Black Mesa source
Heck yeah! Bring it on
I still have my original CD version of this game and the "Blue Shift" add-on in the loft somewhere. Along with my original Duke3D and ROTT games
I'm such a geek at times

Re: Half Life: Black Mesa source
Will be interesting to see.. For it's time HL was OKish but the source version was nothing special over the gameplay of the original.. Not got the original anymore but at least you can install HL:BM with any source based game so my CS:S will come in handy..

Re: Half Life: Black Mesa source
Loved Half Life when it was relelased and HL2 was pretty great as well, however the Source version of HL was pretty poor TBH, didn't really do much with the graphics at all.
From the screenshots BM: Source looks great.

Re: Half Life: Black Mesa source
Blue Shift wasn't really an addon, it was a standalone game
Unlike Opposing Force which required HL to be installed.
..although nowadays, a single key from either HL, OF or BS unlocks all games
