Some of you may not have heard of Onlive, basically it runs centrally from a server, meaning you are only limited by the speed and quality of your connection. I think you would need a 10Mbps download and a decent upload to make it worthwhile. Just been playing it on my 50Mbps connection and an XPS 15. By signing up now you can reserve your gamertag and get FREE early access.

It runs really smooth, this should run on anything. So even if it is a netbook, give it a go. You will get far better graphics and performance than on your systems.

P.S. - This works on MACs as well!

tried it yesterday on my 50 meg account. works as advertised, the video wall showing other people playing games is VERY cool.

not true 1080p yet on my hdtv it was a bit pixelated and blurry on fast scenes.

aparently it can use a gig an hour while gaming so unless they come up with a deal with virgin it would be no good for hardcore gamers youd hit your stm limit rather quickly.

Theyve done a deal with BT for total broadband customers and theyve made it so it doesn't use your allowance...

Even though I signed up via OnLive.co.uk a couple of weeks ago, it gave me a US account for some reason. It's happened to other people, too. I only found out when I tried to log in on launch day this week, to be told "You cannot use a US account to sign into OnLive UK". I've emailed OnLive support, and they're apparently going to migrate my account.

I was going to pick up an OnLive Gaming System "micro console" yesterday at the Eurogamer Expo. They cost ~£70 normally, but they were giving them away for free... *Massive* queue though, so I didn't bother in the end

On the bandwidth side of things maybe onlive could pay virgin to host a server or 3 that only gets used by other virgin customers, this would cut out the outside network (to a point) and i guess would be considerately cheaper for virgin in the long term.

My impressions so far are good to be honest, kids been playing a few of the demos on there today and they had great fun not caring about max settings 1080p like i do lol.

Anyway its good enough to be a contender for a one of my childrens Christmas pressys (the 69.99 micro console) so might get one for them, running it on a 23" lcd for them the not true 1080p wont make any difference. Plus a 6.99 a month playpack and theyd have quite a few games to play (and yes it does have parental controls so you can set the maximum age rating allowed for them to see).

Just wait around, there has been at least 4 deals (that I can remember) where they have offered a free Micro Console with a pre-order of a new £40 ($60) game so I'm sure something similar will happen over here soon.

Send an email to customer service and request an account migration from US to UK. That is what I did and they replied inside 4 hours. I sent it at 8pm last night!

I recently signed upto Onlive.co.uk and as I also have a BT line aswell as cable I got 3 months 3 playpack access worth £6.99 a month.

Playpack also gives me 30% of all games, and there is currently a deal where if you preorder saints row 3(£24 is you have playpack subs) you get the Onlive micro-console free.

Plus your first game is £1 I bought deus-ex human revolution. So I've paid out £25 and got deus-ex and a onlive micro-console. If it all suks baws then I can ebay the micro-console for £35+, cant lose really.

So anyone thinking of paying £69.99 for the micro console just preorder saints row 3 and get it free. Also if like me you have a BT and a VM internet connection then sign up via BT for 3 months free playpack which includes over 100 games.

signed up myself in the end, i bought red faction armageddon and playpack, picture quality still could be improved but overall im happy and hopefully the service will keep improving

Not sure virgin likes me streaming at between 5-7mbs everytime i want to play a game if i go over 250gig in one month they just might send me a "your downloading to much" letter, except my reply will be "er no i hardly download anything" thatll confuse em lol.

Being in Manchester I should have known trying this service would be a lost cause. What a shambles....laggy, network error pop up messages....just a mess to be honest.

On 50meg, but of course anyone familiar with Manchester knows we get creamed when it comes to a stable service.

So frustrating, because I do like the idea of this service. It has pretty much been the final thing to push me toward B.T infinity. Few people I know have it in my area (and the box in right next to my house) and have had nothing but good things to say about it, and Onlive works like a dream compared to my own experience with it.
