List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

Please everyone let me know what games are affected by the peer to peer traffic management which is in operation between 5pm and midnight on weekdays and midday and midnight on weekends. so far I have:

Call of Duty: Black Ops
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty 5: World at War
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

and i believe that World of Warcraft if affected, although I cant confirm this as iv never played it

The management is affecting all the call of duties for me as it always picks me as host, then makes it lag and freeze when people join the game.

more discussion about the p2p management can be found here:

official VM forums complains about black ops here:

On what platform?

I play COD:Black Ops on the PC, and don't have any issues (but have great sympathy with those who suffer this problem).

Re: List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

I presume he's talking xbox 360 Hugh,,,,,,
I noticed some odd behaviour on Modern Warfare 2 last night whilst hosting a 3 player free for all private match, it wasn't terrible just annoying as it felt like I had added latency and when being shot at my character struggled to move, which made returning fire impossible.

I will give it a bash on my Sky BB connection tonight and see how that plays, seen as my PS3 is down for god knows how long.

Damn hackers

Re: List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

they have released an update to the network config on thursday which is meant to sort the problems with black ops, however it has only stopped severe freezing and connection interrupted, it hasnt solved lag and jumpiness

Re: List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

I can tell you that Worl of Warcraft is not affected.
The only problems that keep cropping up are the Telia servers used by Blizzard keep restricting VM connections for some reason every few months.

Re: List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

World of Warcraft is affected and has been confirmed by numerous GM's to be an ongoing problem. There are also numerous threads on WoW and Virgin Media Forums about this. They claim its something to do with Virgin Media connections reading the Packets from Bliz as P2P and for me this has only started occuring since the 4.1 patch

On the Xbox 360 side.. what has suddenly changed? Blackops was fine months ago when I played it? A patch maybe?

Quote:
This policy, which applies to all broadband packages, is restricted to Peer to Peer ("P2P") applications and Newsgroups (which are commonly used to distribute large amounts of data)

This policy does not impact any applications other than Peer to Peer and Newsgroups, so things like watching iPlayer, online gaming, making calls via Skype, downloading music tracks from iTunes or streaming them from Spotify and sending an email or normal browsing are unaffected.
Can anyone tell me what the deal is here.. I was unbelievably happy with my 50mb connection which has been problem free since installation!! Then this past week its just completely turned on its head.

There is nothing worse than having to rely on Sky Connect!

Re: List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

I believe Black Ops traffic has finally been correctly identified and is no longer being affected by Vm's P2P restrictions.

Any one noticed a difference,

Re: List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

I've never had any issues with any of the COD games on the 360 when played online.

I assume your line is perfectly stable with a very good ping/jitter plus in a healthy part of the network to begin with Stephen, Vm have had (in particluar) hosting issues with these types of games for years, I can remember when I first had 20 Meg installed and trying to play World at War when it first came out, there was plenty of Vm gamers complaining that every time they were selected as host the game would start then lag out.

This used to happen to me every time I was selected as host, to the point I got loads of bad rep from players thinking I quit early.

I guess your one of the lucky ones matey

Re: List of games affected by the p2p traffic management

the disconnections, kick outs, and loading screen errors have stopped, but it still freeze and jumps during the management period, im on 50meg with 5mb upload hosting a zombie game on black ops with just me and one other player and it was freezing and jumping all over the place

Startrek Online is also affected. Took ages to download from them, updates and patches would freeze and crash out and when trying to play the game it would stutter.
