PS3 Game Crackling Sound

Hi didn't know where best to post this but I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I'm having.

My PS3 which is now a few years old (it's a 60GB, one of the first versions), is perfectly fine when playing DVD's watching TV or playing playstation 2 gamnes but anytime I actually try play a PS3 game the sound starts to crackle very loudly so no other audio can be heard.

This occurs when PS3 game discs are played or even if it is just a downloaded PS3 game.

Anyone have any advice or idea?

Hi Bobman, welcome to the forum

There's a thread on this over on the playstation forum there's a number of suggestions that seem to have solved the problem for some of the posters.

Hope you manage to sort it.

id run a lens cleaner through it m8 , my m8 stu had a similar problem with his a few months back
