Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Well here's one I didnt see comming. A new Elder Scrolls game comming out 11/11/11. Just announced at the Spike Videogame awards. No platforms mentioned far as I can see. 2011 is shaping up to be another great year for gaming

Quote:
In one of the bigger surprises during the VGAs, Bethesda's Todd Howard took to the stage, surrounded by a menagerie of monks, to reveal the latest in the Elder Scrolls series: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Head past the jump for the teaser, featuring narration by Max Von Sydow.

In what is perhaps the best news about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim so far, Bethesda confirmed via a tweet that the game's engine is "brand new ... and it's spectacular!"
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/13/el...on-new-engine/

Well that's good news. Hopefully it won't be full of game killer bugs that were in the last engine. The platforms were announced to and as expected it will be on PC, Xbox360 and PS3.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

New engine? About bloody time, lol.

Not sure if I'll bother with this, though. So many other (hopefully) great games due out in 2011.

I did *love* Oblivion, and put 10s & 10s & 10s of hours into it... but never actually started the main quest, I just spent time doing all the different Guild quests etc. I ended up ditching it in the end, as by then I had got tired of it & hadn't played in ages. Bit *too* open for me to keep me interested.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Eurogamer: 10/10

In fact the average score based on 26 reviews collated to-date on metacritic is 95%... not one review under 90% which is quite phenomenal.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I'm still thinking about this one, been told by some people that graphics & sound-wise it's not a great improvement to Oblivion, and a few of my friends are finding a lot of it to get boring easily, but other people seem to enjoy it.

May wait for more reviews & pictures.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Gamestation are doing the strategy guide for half price (tenner) if you buy it with the game. It is well worth getting as you don't actually get much help in the game even!

Forget them , its a fantastic game , ive played them all and really loving this so far , ive put about 12 hours in since friday and ive not even done any of the main single player quests , just been exploring and doing the odd side quest , its a must own game in my book , the sound is superb and the fx are just great !

LOL Wut

I'm fast coming to the conclusion that a lot of gamers are a bunch of whiney spoilt idiots wouldn't notice a good game if it slapped them in the face.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The bottom line is: if Oblivion wasn't your cup of tea, this won't be either so it's not even worth bothering with just to complain about later on.

For the faithful this game delivers on practically every level, it's a masterpiece. The graphics ARE a vast improvement over Oblivion, you just have to look at some of the face-off screenshots that are knocking about. Not up there with the likes of Red Dead Redemption but bearing in mind the staggering amount of content in the game you can't have everything.

I really like the new skill and levelling system, it's very granular and allows you to improve specific areas in a particular discipline. The ability to craft your own weapons and armour that you may otherwise have difficulty finding is also a nice addition to the game. There are a few niggling bugs to sort out at the moment but nothing major.
