Mass Effect 3 (360/PS3/PC) [NB: DO NOT POST UNTAGGED SPOILERS!]
Oooops someone is not going to get their christmas bonus at EA. Mass Effect 3 was listed on the EA store then pulled minutes later. Guess all the teasing thats been going around lately about Biowares new game will be Mass Effect 3 after all. There's a little information on the games storey over on joystiq if your intrested and I'd keep an eye out tomorrow for a possible official announcment at the Spike Videogame awards.

The EA Store has added a pre-order listing for Mass Effect 3 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The listing includes a description that notes the "Earth is burning" and Commander Shepard (that's you!) has to gather the races of the galaxy to launch "one final mission" against machines striking from beyond known space.

I can't wait. ME2 is my GOTY for 2010, & my current Game of the Generation.
I'm not keen on this rumour, though:
"Rumour: Mass Effect 3 to be revealed at the VGAs, will include multiplayer"
It's bad enough (IMO) when story-driven single player games such as Uncharted, BioShock, Assassin's Creed etc. have multiplayer added to them... but I can at least excuse it as a way of adding longevity to games which otherwise would only be around 10 hours long.
ME, however, has no need of multiplayer at all IMO. I don't need multiplayer to get my money's worth out of ME: One play-through alone could be 40 hours, & I've played ME1 three times and ME2 twice (so far).

What ! you mean you dont agree with EA's new stance that single player games are done and all games need a multiplayer aspect ?
I agree whole heartedly with you Matt. I'd hate to see my favorite single player game's ruined in the mist of the new "everything has to be mutilplayer" rubbish. My favorite games have always been storey driven and character developing games. I'd hate that to start losing out to the mulitplayer craze.
One game I have to admitt that it added to was Uncharted 2. I didn't think it would work but it did in a major way and it didn't take anything away from the single player game.
Anyway Mass Effect 3 now officially announced.

As speculated and teased (and accidentally outed), BioWare and EA tonight revealed the next installment in the Mass Effect series: Mass Effect 3. Alongside the official announcement at tonight's Spike VGAs came the first trailer of Shepard and Co. in action. Surprise, surprise -- Earth's burning! The final chapter to BIoWare's trilogy will launch sometime in "holiday 2011."

HD Announcment Trailer - http://www.gametrailers.com/video/vg...-effect/708363
I'm already feeling the hype after that trailer. Was that Sean Bean doing the voice over for the trailer ? Always liked him as an actor.

<bumpage>
This is due for release in the UK on Friday 9th March 2012.
I've had my "N7" edition on pre-order for quite some time now
Today is "FemShep Friday", and saw the release of the first official FemShep trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pShKKOV_gA
ME3 is the first game in the trilogy to feature FemShep in the marketing.

re: Mass Effect 3 (360/PS3/PC) [NB: DO NOT POST UNTAGGED SPOILERS!]
The demo is out on Tuesday 14th February.
Early access is also possible via this Facebook game... http://t.co/gjx6RHfI
I've just finished playing the demo. Love it. It features two sections: one from early on in the game, on Earth, and another from later on (the same later section demoed at the Eurogamer Expo last September).
There's also multiplayer, but that's not playable until the demo goes public on Tuesday.
