Suggestions for games for the more elderly & less agile
I'm looking for a few suggestions for possible Xmas presents (for me ). They mustn't involve microsecond reaction times or the ability to mow down dozens without even breaking stride. Think SimCity or The Sims or Civilisation, or even turn based war games. And they've got to be reasonably modern. As the recent owner of Win 7 I've discovered the downside, namely that running old programs can be very hit and miss. Also, we're talking mouse or keyboard - none of your newfangled game controls.

Re: Suggestions for games for the more elderly & less agile
Well, I am 53 (nearly 54) and I play COD, Battlefield, MOH, so don't count yourself out yet....
What sort of thing do you like - driving games, strategy, or what?

And I have nearly 10 years on Hugh and still play the same games..
It's good for your reaction speeds to try and keep up with the youngsters, plus the shouting and swearing lets out all the day's tensions.

Re: Suggestions for games for the more elderly & less agile
We're not quite at zimmer frame stage yet, but the NTHW LAN parties are frequently attended by players in the 40s and 50s, some of whom even crash out on the floor . Just shows your never too old to game
Realistically gaming is about having fun, and that measn different things will appeal to different players. Some will want strategy, others a driving game, and others a shootemup. Each to their own.

Re: Suggestions for games for the more elderly & less agile
I'm not 42..(well not for another 2 weeks) and have just finished playing Black-ops.. Even used to be a UT99 camping sniper captain a couple of years back for a US clan..
Never really though got into playing COD:MW online due to the freestyle aspect of it all, I'm purely a sniper and still play on ut99/2k4/3 quite often

Re: Suggestions for games for the more elderly & less agile
If you like games like COD but find them too fast, try finding an old copy of SNIPER-ELITE (2005) which runs perfectly well on win7.. the whole idea is to sneak around without putting yourself into fast action firefights..
Other games you can try are any of the simulators (lots about from trains/boats/planes) or tycoon style games (airports/hospitals/fairgrounds..etc..)
Also adventure games (graphics and non of the old spectrum text based games) in which you move around trying to solve puzzles..
