Warning about Shopto.net

I thought I'd post a warning about shopto.net. I ordered a 12 months + 2 months free halo reach xbox live subscription from them yesterday. It arrived today and I put it on the side and went out shopping. On my return, there is nothing in the package. The outer package is there, but where the card with the code should be it's empty. Trying to get in touch with them is like trying to get in touch with the queen. Their system picks up and tells you there is no operator and drops the call and the only way you can contact them is through a form on their site. I'd advise everyone to pay a few quid more and go to someone like Game instead as at the moment I'm wondering if I'll get anything out of them or I've just lost £35.

Re: Warning about Shopto.net

I've ordered from them loads of times. I've never had an issue. I'd go on their forums and post about it on there.

Re: Warning about Shopto.net

This is *NOT* for customer support issues, please email support@shopto.net or call FREEPHONE 0800 779 7777

This is my first and last time. If I do happen to get somewhere with them, I'm afraid it won't make a difference they've lost a customer. They should have someone available at weekends to answer calls.

Re: Warning about Shopto.net

With all due respect, it says pretty clearly on their website when their phone line is open, you should have checked before ordering if it's an issue. It's a bit silly to complain after the fact.

Re: Warning about Shopto.net

With respect, it doesn't say that on the front page of their website, so maybe take a trip back and look. When you click through to ask for help it says that.

---------- Post added at 17:37 ---------- Previous post was at 17:33 ----------

When I've discovered they haven't checked what they've sent me and have sent me an empty box and I want to quickly call them up and ask them how they are going to rectify the problem, am I going to look on the front page of their website for a telephone number, or am I going to go searching around their website looking for the hours that a telephone line is open? Their telephone line doesn't tell you when they are open, only that, "The operator is not here", before dumping the call.

So you need everything on the front page? The contact info is on the "Contact Us" page, oddly.

So, I go to their site and IGNORE the BIG HELPLINE number and instead go to the contact us page?? Who is being the argumentative, unhelpful one here?

If you want to know when they're open, obviously.

Well i apologise for not supporting you in your time of need, but i feel a bit of realism is needed.

Mistakes happen (How were they meant to know the card wasn't there? This isn't shopto.net's fault). Places are closed. The only issue here is you not liking their opening hours, opening hours you could easily have known before ordering.

If you want to warn people about something, then you should warn people about checking the opening times etc of a company first.

Re: Warning about Shopto.net

Was the box sealed?

All my Xbox games have the MS seal on it.

Re: Warning about Shopto.net

I ordered FIFA 10 from them, checked my bank statement, and they had charged me twice. Cue a very angry e-mail from me (I hadn't ordered 2 copies, incase anyone was wondering), I got a very apologetic reply the next morning and the money was refunded rather quickly.

Re: Warning about Shopto.net

To the OP I think you are blowing this up out of all proportion and acting like a spoiled kid!

Mistakes happen, I am sure you have made a few in your time I know I have but at the moment you are making assumptions.

You have assumed that shoptonet have screwed up when it could easily have been the company that supplied them the items (MS?)

You have assumed you have just lost £35 when it is pretty obvious that you wont have as when you do get in touch with them they will rectify it one way or another.

Tell me, in your line of work, do you work 24 hours 7 days a week, are you always available on the phone no matter what time of day or night it is?

I bet even as I am typing this you have got it all sorted out with shoptonet

I wonder if they could do you for libel?

Don't tell me, the next morning you got hold of shoptonet (In business hours) and they resolved the problem straight away but you are not prepared to say that you were wrong about them?

Or perhaps he simply doesn;t visit the forum as often as the some of us....

Let's give the guy a break, he's had a bad experience and posted it on here.. good for him and it'll be judged along with other good and bad reports and will help others make a decision on whether to shop there or not..
