Torchlight only £3.75 on Steam this weekend
Posted this on the [NTHW] forums yesterday but thought I would repost it here too because it's such a steal and this game is really worth trying.
Bought and downloaded it yesterday myself and am really really happy with it.
It basically a cross between Diablo 2 and World of Warcraft, and I've described it before as a single-player version of WoW - the same developers who originally worked for Blizzard before they became the money-grabbing Activision types made this game.
Plays well on laptops, Linux and low end systems too I think.
Here's the demo: http://store.steampowered.com/app/41510/
And the full game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/41500/
To buy and install, you just install the Steam client then buy it inside that.

Completed the demo last night, love the style and look of the game. How big is the paid for version?

Re: Torchlight only £3.75 on Steam this weekend
It was just a weekend sale.
If you want it at that price now I think you'll need Steam. Looks like the price is still reduced there.

Yes it is - they say it ends today though so I'm not sure if that's UK or US time.
Glad those who tried it liked the game, I wouldn't recommend something rubbish.
Update: Aww it's gone back to the original price. Sorry if you wanted it in the sale.

Try running without AA or in windowed mode.
If you need further help, try this search:

Was actually just reading a review of this - seems the main music composer behind the WoW expansion Burning Crusade did the music, brilliant.

From Wiki:

He is best known for his work in Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo series, which was recognized with the inaugural Excellence in Audio award by the IGDA in 2001. He also worked as a sound designer for the real-time strategy game StarCraft, and worked on the massively multiplayer game World of Warcraft's expansion World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade in 2007. This game was his last before his departure from Blizzard Entertainment. Matt Uelmen is now listed as a member of the Runic Games team, working on Torchlight.
|
Bought Torchlight back in October when it was released - was a big fan of Diablo series which Blizzard North made - same guys who made Torchlight.
There is actually MOD tools released by the games developers - the same tools they used to make the game.
After the Single player Torchlight game - They are now in the progress of making a Torchlight MMO, due to be released next year - probably around the same time as Diablo 3.

Re: Torchlight only £3.75 on Steam this weekend
Not even 1/6 of the way though the game yet (I base that on the fact that I assume I'm half way through 1 character of 3) and I'm already really excited about the MMO they have announced.
Could this be a return to the classic WoW which I personally fell in love with?
Note: WoW became just a money-grabbing exercise towards the end after Activision bought them out, I mean you can buy pets and other stuff from the Blizzard store for your characters for god's sake...
Although Runic plans to charge for certain "vanity" stuff, the main MMO will be free. So this is fine in my book.
At least they don't charge you $40 to "virtually" go to Blizzcon 2009...
BTW - the game has a "netbook mode" too - so looking forward to loading it onto my HP with the Nvidia Ion beasty and playing it on my lunch breaks!

Reason: Netbook mode addition
