Re: Where to download...
What sort of games are you looking for?? Perhaps if you throw a few titles at us..
If though a game is counted as freeware (please do not confuse freeware with abandonware) they are normally dreadful games..
Everything else is normally paid for

If there was, there wouldn't be any point in buying them would there?

Somehow though I don;t think the OP is asking for freeware/shareware or even abandonware... In that case I don't think they'll get the answer they want

That's my biggest bug bear.
You search for "Free" stuff, and you find out that 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999999999999999% are trials for x days.

Re: Where to download...
To the OP, do a google search for Abandonware. These are games older then five years old and free to download, though they exist in a legally grey area.
Home of the Underdogs was a leading web-site for Abandonware, but I haven't checked out its newest incarnation yet.

Re: Where to download...
Actually there is no grey area.. Most abandonware is still owned by a copyright holder, the abandonware sites make the excuse that the original company doesn't exist anymore but even if a company goes into administration the assets are still owned and sold to a new owner.. Few of the games on abandonware sites are true copyright relinquished software items
