PC Vs Playstation (Upcoming Games)
I've been having a look at the upcoming games for both Playstation 3 and PC, two of which were Alien Vs Predator & Crisis 2.
I'm confused at to what would play better, an I7 Quad Core with 6gb Ram and a 5850 Radeon, or the Playstation 3?
Everytime I put a game on like the original Crysis on my PC, I can play that max settings 1920x1280, But I've never tried to play Crysis on the Playstation 3, as far as I'm aware it was never made.
I love both the PC and Playstation, but I would love to know which would be best suited to handle these new games for 2010.

Crysis 2 will be on the consoles, but the first one isn't. It'd all depend on your PC though, I think that will be a lot better to play on.

Why not buy both and do a review for us.

Re: PC Vs Playstation (Upcoming Games)
keyboard and mouse for FPS no matter what anyway. The PS3 games tends to be more xpensive. Platformers perhaps the PS3 as the gfx are pretty special.
No one can really tell you how good DX11 games are going to be till DX11 are in the wild. However the DX11 bentchtests look sweeeeeeet

Re: PC Vs Playstation (Upcoming Games)
I loved Crysis 1 and very much like the idea of Crysis 2. I would have to say though Crysis 2 on PC for me but when it drops in price on the PS3 I will prob buy it aswell.
Anyone know when its due to be released on either platforms?

You're confused about which will play it better, a console with 5 year old directx 9 hardware based on the nvidia 7800 with 300million transistors, or a latest gen directx 11 card with over 2billion transistors?
The playstation hasn't been able to outclass a high end pc for years now. The only problem is the pc always gets shoddy console ports which aren't as optimised as they are for consoles.

which is why unfortunately the PS3 is the better(looking graphics wise) gaming machine as it gets more titles written for it and the graphics are better than the xbox360
Playability wise for the games I play the PC wins as I am a keyboard and mouse kinda guy but with platformers racing and rpg games the PS3 controller does the job
If the PC was getting games written for it properly and not as you say console ports then the PC hardware would win hands down. I see in the current way of things any reason to buy DX11 GFX cards over £200 when a 5770 would be adequate for a fraction of the cost. It is a shame but the PC market is tiny compared to the console market and I for one feel its not going to change

Re: PC Vs Playstation (Upcoming Games)
I'm confused, i had crysis 1 on the pc and then a second crysis came out, was that not number 2?
It was called Crysis warhead and was the second installment so that would make it crysis 2 surely?
---------- Post added at 09:18 ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 ----------
Ok i just looked it up, crysis warhead was actually a spin off from crysis so technically not crysis 2

Not universally true.
Compare bad company 2 side by side, ps3 version to pc, the difference is light and day.
There's SOME bad ports out there (gta IV I'm looking at you) that suffer from crappy framerates and shoddy console graphics hacks (seriously, blur IS NOT anti-aliasing!), but there's still a lot of good games that do take advantage of the full power.
A good pc port of a title will still have better graphics than the console it was wrote for as long as they spent more than a day working on it. The main issue with ports isn't the graphics which are easy to get right (just higher res versions of textures and higher poly models) but with crappy console friendly controls and ui. There's plenty a game that's looked pretty on a PC that has instantly put me off because of the console ported controls that just don't fit well with a pc.
Nearly every time people show an amazing looking console shot it just seems to be a world of blur trying to cover up the jaggies and lack of definition at distances.

Dirt 2 is just /drool on my 5850, aint no way a 5770 would be able to run it at max settings with playable framerates.
BC2 as well, a 5770 isn't running that at max settings. I'd be more than willing to put money on crysis 2 being the same.

Re: PC Vs Playstation (Upcoming Games)
yeah but when I play a game I am to into the game to worry to much about jagged edges
Time will tell if DX11 takes off and games get written for it. I spose with the take up of Win 7 there is a chance but I for one aint investing £200-250 on a new card just in case
I aint seen Bad Company 2 and I aint into DIRT type of games. Crysis 2 maybe but it aint worth the outlay just yet
