Thumbs up Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising

This comes out on Friday for 360/PC/PS3. It really does look promising and seems to be a much more tactical/sim of modern war compared to the 'run & gun' style of COD....and i for one prefer this more tactical style.

Online4 player co-op sounds really good especially in hardcore mode.

Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising

Just watched some trailers there and it looks like it could be awesome. I only like paying co-op with mates though, so I doubt I'd get into a 4 player co-op.

Heard a lot of poeple talking about it. Screenshots look very nice. Might have to have a look for it on Friday.

It does look really good. There will be a demo coming out afterwards, so definitely checking that out.

Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising

I've had a pre-order in for a while for this one. I'll be picking it up on PC myself were I feel a game like this belongs.

Had a little go on a demo and the gfx are really disapointing I think they are seriously trying to push gamers onto consoles

I don't think it's that, it's the age old problem of multi format titles. Developers didn't have the time/money/inclanation to do models/textures etc for ps3/xbox 360, and then do another lot for the relatively low number of people that would see the difference on high end PCs.

It was the thing that annoyed me most about having a GameCube. Some multi format console titles they'd use same graphics on ps2/gc/xbox, which annoyed xbox and gc owners. Some did do better versions for xbox, but the gc was left with a ps2 rather than xbox version, as although it was closer in power to xbox, most dev cos didn't think it was worth their effort to make a 3rd version

Most Dev Cos have a love hate relationship with PC Vs console development.

consoles have the big plus that if works on 1 ps3 it will work on any, but there's the big downside of console manufacturers forcing you to go through their testing and QA, and having to give them some of the proceeds of each sale.

Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising

Ive had a look at some other videos and it looks to me like they have not done enough work on the enviroment. For example on the bit I played I swam in the ocean now the effects here was worse than in Far Cry 1 and its this that does my head in. The game itself most likey isnt that bad but it does not capture me cuz there for me is no realisim in the enviroment I am fighting in.They could easily have done better imo

Where did you get the demo? A couple of weeks ago they said the demo wouldn't be available until after release?

Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising

The PC version is getting pretty slated on the OFPR forums.
There is a guy streaming his game over the internet - watched a few mins - enough to not rush out and buy the PC version at least.

Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising

Judging by comments on the console half of the forum it's not as good as they were trying to make out, has lots of bugs and dodgy AI, but if you work at it the SP sounds OK. Of course those are just forum opinions.
Might be worth renting it first to see as we won't be getting a demo.

Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising

Co-op with mates is awesome (360)

Single player is blah but co-op is where it's at with this game, took an hour just to do the first mission, including secondary objectives.
