WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
Having dispatched my gaming PC to the scrapyard in the sky I am somewhat finding myself missing gaming. What would be the better console to buy and why.
Cheers

Re: WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
Depends on the kinds of games you like to play. I'd go for the PS3 or XB360 - unless you like to be REALLY active then I'd go for the Wii. I don't understand how you can play some games (XMen: Wolverine being a casing point) with the silly motion controllers.

Re: WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
What a hard question, lol. Just wait till all the fanboys arrive.
I honestly have a PS3 and Xbox360 and of the two the 360 is the best choice imho.
Great online service and a huge selection of games. Call of Duty 4 still gets a lot of online play from me.
The Xbox Live arcade is also fab, as there are games released weekly and vary from new exlcusive games and old classics, ie Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Paperboy. Just a few that I have bought.

Re: WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
I have all three.
Although the Wii has a few great games (such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid), it's IMO more for people who want to play party games, casual games, family multiplayer games. Mine hardly gets used.
The 360 & the PS3 have a wider range of games, & IMO have a greater no. of decent games, than the Wii.
Which of the two is the best... I think it depends on what you want.
Do you care for online multiplayer?
Online multiplayer on the 360 is excellent, but it costs £30-40 per year.
Online multiplayer on the PS3 is free, but not as good as that on the 360.
Are there any exclusive games you really really want to play?
The 360 has Halo 3, Gears of War 1 & 2, Fable 2, Forza 2 , Left4Dead etc., along with upcoming games such as Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo ODST, Halo Reach, etc., along with other stuff mentioned at E3.
The PS3 has Uncharted, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc., along with the upcoming Uncharted 2, The Agency, & some other stuff revealed at E3.
Do you care about HD movies?
The 360 has a "video marketplace", where you can download HD & SD movies for rental.
The PS3 can play Blu-ray Discs, & will eventually also have a movie rental service.
Both machines are good for media, & can play Divx/Xvid, H.264, etc.

Re: WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
Good GFX, Good Online, Good Games, Proper Controllers and The New Metal Gear Solid (take that PS3) = Xbox 360
Good GFX, Hmmish Online, Hmmish Games, Rubbish Controllers and no more metal gear solid = PS3
Bad GFX, Bad Online, Bad Games, Bad Controllers and never had metal gear solid = Wii

LOL LOL LOL Typical fanboy at work.
I think Matt has summed it up the best so I'd look at what he said. If you can get a chance to play them yourself at a friends etc etc then I would and then decide. Hope you enjoy whatever your choice is If you cant decide you could always get them all lol

Re: WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
My sister bought the Wii for her hubby and now they an the 2 kids use it all the time.
the Wii is a family friendy console/DVD player
I have a PS2 and wanted to upgrade to a PS3 but Sony for some reason don't wnt to make a backward compatalble unit widely available for the UK market and when they did it was more expensive and in very short supply.
But talkin to the guy I work with they all had 360's so I went for the 360 Elite and never looked back.

I said in a previous thread that if it had of been Exclusive M$ would of bannged on about it during their conference as would of Sony had it been them. It was announced at the M$ conference because it would have the bigger impact the Xbox getting an MGS game.
Kojima announced at the Konami conference 2 days later that it was going multiplat including PC. As Matt said kojima is not doing this one but I do believe he is over-seeing certain aspects of it. Also they said its a new MGS experience I just hope it does not drift to far from the core components of MGS and spoil the series.
I'd be happy callumpy m8. Personally I hate all this Exclusive crap that is going around all the time. I understand why its needed to promote each console but I'd like to see everyone to be able to enjoy a gaming experience no matter their console of choice.
Wow I didnt mean to type that much when I started this reply lol my bad.

Re: WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
Type of games I play are FPS n driving.
Played all 3 consoles although not much on the PS3 tho only assasin creed.
Your right about the Wii being more a family entertainment console and the graphics are very cartoonie.
I'm leaning towards the 360 pro (60gb) A, for its price B, HDMI support.
Thanks all for the advice

I watched both conferences but i cant have heared PlayStation mention it if they did. Also, I agree that all games should be multi-platform but apparently its harder for them to make games for the PS3 cause it has a better processor than the 360 (what i heared lol)

Re: WTB - Xbox, PS3 or Wii
Amazon have some nice deals on 360's at the moment, I'm thinking of getting one myself as both the Sony and MS E3 events were good. Amazon have all the packs, plus you can get a free hdmi lead and a game pack with and extra controller and Burnout Paradise Ultimate (and Trivial Pursuit and Connect 4 )for only 10 quid extra.
As a 2nd controller is about 17 quid and Burnout Paradise Ultimate is about 24 quid it's a good deal.

Play are doing the Elite one for 169.99 too
