Will give it a patch or two to bed down and then I may check it out.

On the subject of a monthly fee WoW seems to do just fine with the monthly fee and I'm not convinced the money would be there for the kind of development work that the Star Trek universe deserves without constant income.

That said, it depends how much additional content they are planning to add as time goes on.

I got my preorder special edition for £17.99 from amazon... its £24.99 from there at the moment I think.

I don't know how much it's going to be per month yet so I'm taking it month by month.

I would have thought that if they gave the game away for minimal cost they'd have a lot better online presence, look at Eve the game is free, you just pay for the time online

True but the Gold Edition is only £24.99 @ Amazon and HMV and that comes with the following which certainly ain't bad imo.

Yep

I was lucky and pre-ordered it on the day it was released for pre-order. I certainly wouldn't pay more than £25 for what is effectively just a disc and 1months play (not including the extras) as that wouldn't be cost effective - Technically I don't need the disc as I've downloaded the 8gig client for the open beta, which just patches up to the release version on release day.

Eve wasn't always though. I have the disc from when it first got released and am sure it was £29.99 back then.

Still waiting on my beta key from HMV.

The only worthwhile extra is the Borg as the others like a tribble,armour,guns etc you can get eventually in the game, and yes its with Amazon pre order,got mine for £17.99

Its not too bad...my first MMO so not much to compare against...bear in mind its still in beta, there are still a few bugs...some quite amusing but some annoying.

Also, they are stress-testing the server as well so some frequent drop-outs etc atm
