Doom 4 Announced
Seems there will be another Doom game in the works. Really happy to hear this being a big fan of the Doom games myself.

US, May 7, 2008 - The landmark Doom franchise is getting a new game in the series according to an announcement made today by id Software. The company revealed that Doom 4 is in production and that it is looking to hire talent to work on the game. It's unusual to basically reveal the existence of a game through basically a help-wanted ad; normally publishers like to trumpet the announcement.

Re: Doom 4 Announced
I can't believe Doom 3 was 4 years ago. I really like Doom 3 although Hell was harder than the end of the game hope Doom 4 keeps it up ie scary jumpy and nerve wracking lol

Re: Doom 4 Announced
I replied to this thread ealier this evening but for some reason my post has been removed ? Can I ask why ? there was nothing wrong with it that I can see ? I will post again what I think it said.
I agree Doom 3 was great. Very Very jumpy. I hope this continues into doom 4. Am surprised that they have waited this long to make another one.

Same here - had the brightness on full, eyeballs melting, and I still couldn't see a damn thing. It spoilt the game. Not even so much as a machine gun mounted flashlight, or flares.

Re: Doom 4 Announced
To be honest, Doom3 was a dissapointment for me.
Yes the graphics were great, but the game itself?
Wasn't even as good as Doom.

Re: Doom 4 Announced
I thought it was cool having diddy versions of the blue guards from Castle Wolfenstein in the first secret level in Doom 2 - sort of a cross-over. Same with Castle Wolfenstein - open a door and there's a giant Pac-Man ghost heading at you. Totally off the wall Nothing like that in Doom 3 though.

Re: Doom 4 Announced
Quite a while back Todd Hollenshead, the CEO of id Software, did say they intend to use the id Tech 5 engine for many games in the future, if this is the case, Doom 4 won't be scary, it will be your worst nightmare, like one of those nightmares where you wake up in a sweat thinking what just happened.

Re: Doom 4 Announced
I personally found Doom 3 a disappointment, it was way to dark, plus I was expecting there to be a few more levels out in the open, like the originals. Hopefully Doom 4 will be a big improvement on the last offering.
PS Not long now to the much anticipated Fable 2.

I just found it really boring, not enough hell stuff, not enough like "Doom" really.
