However the controller is an issue and I do prefer the Xbox controller. Its far superior in my opinion.

Any other opinions appreciated, so the only thing the elite has vs the premium is the hard drive?
Thanks
Just a quickie, why is online play not an issue for you, if the facility is there use it, its way more fun than single player.

I have both machines, a 60gb PS3 and a 360 elite, they are both good, lets say if you primarily want a Blu Ray player, go for the PS3, it is probably the best one out there, but if you want a gaming machine then it has to be the 360, it is a way better gaming experience.

I do use the PS3 for gaming but only the exclusives that you cannot get on the 360.

if you're a gamer you need the 360, GT5P isnt all its cracked up to be, honestly!

Yeah it has Blu-Ray, but its limited and cant even play Blu-Ray films at 1080P 24fps (which after all is the whole point) and besides what do you want a GAMES console or a fancy DVD player?

Games tend to be as good as or better looking on the Xbox 360 too, like GTA IV which has a higher resolution on the 360 than that PS3 version (and actually works better too according to reports).

Not to mention that the PS3 has really long load times for games.

Still you can run Linux on it i suppose, which will allow you to, eh, write a document with your control pad.

Personally though, i'd say dont bother with any of them and get a Wii, much better.

sorry mate but most of that post is a load pf rubbish , for one ok the ps3 is a little more expensive but look what you get with it for the price , a great gaming console blu ray dvd player wireless , great games yes there are a few multi platform games that look and play better on the ps3 than the 360 , load times are about the same as or in some cases better than the 360 , its cheaper to play online on the ps3 than the 360 , comes with wireless where as on the 360 you have to fanny about to get it set up and i bet i have missed someting out oh yes much more reliable as well , but as a gaming console the 360 does a good job of playing games when it works

Its not overpriced at all, it might be expensive to some people, but for the equipment, its not over priced.

Yes it can play Blu-rays at 1080p 24fps. What if people want both?

People can throw around the lower resolution all they want on GTA4, it has varied reports with some saying the PS3 looks the better of the two, so you can keep your higher resolution. What about the games that are supposed to look better on the PS3?

No it doesnt, not mine anyway, plus because you can install games to the hard drive, some are quicker.

I see you have already been told about a few of them, but ill leave my reply in anyway.

Re: I have some money to spend PS3 or 360 Elite?

Hmm interesting comments.
Im swaying towards the PS3 due to the problems ive been reading about with the 360, some people have had 5 or 6 units! I still dislike the controller on PS3 and prefer the 360, but we can not have everything I suppose.

Ive found a second hand 60GB PS3 for sale for £230 with 3 games and all boxed (advertised on works bulletin board)

Im still open to comments though.

I'm on my 2nd 360, but saying that it's took a bashing for about 2 years of constant use. When it did die, M$ sorted it out in just under 3 weeks, and free of charge.

I know of many others that are still on their 1st box from the release day and they are on it all the time. You only hear the bad don't you.

I'm still waiting for that killer PS3 exclusive game (taking it's time) to come out before I'll consider getting one of those as the 360 is good enough for everything I need at the mo. (PGR4, RB6V, GTA4 is enough to keep you busy for a long time and 2 of those are both under £20 new now).

Re: I have some money to spend PS3 or 360 Elite?

The 360 isn't that unreliable. I am still on my launch console and use it at least 3hours every day.

Its true you only hear about the bad things. The new machines are built better and are more reliable.

Re: I have some money to spend PS3 or 360 Elite?

As DarthYoda rightly says the 360 is far more reliable nowadays, so that isn't as big an issue as it used to be, as I said earlier I plan on getting a PS3 in the near future so with the 360 I already own I would be unbiased, unlike some people, in my recommendation. The bottom line is they are both great next gen consoles, and either one will serve you well, as far as on line play, give it a go, I guarantee you will love it, it certainly opens up a whole new dimension in gaming and you can meet some great people, just avoid the mouthy kids, either way your in for a treat.

Hmm... awkward question...

At the moment, I'm using the 360 more for games, & the PS3 more for media.

I get multi-platform stuff (like GTA IV) on the 360 rather than the PS3, simply 'cos of Xbox Live, Achievements, & preferring the 360's controller.

The PS3's still a great games machine though, & I don't regret getting it... just needs more exclusives. Uncharted was awesome, easily one of the best games I played last year, & I really enjoyed Heavenly Sword.

If it was a choice between one or the other, and also I was only concerned with games...hmm, I'd probably stick with a 360, for Gears of War, Halo 3, etc.

But the PS3's certainly better much now than a year ago... I wouldn't have even considered getting one back then, when it was way overpriced & had even fewer decent games.

It all boils down to what you want...

- Do you just want a games console, which you may also play DVDs & media etc. on; or do you want to pay a bit more for games console + DVD & media player + Blu-ray player etc.?

- Do you mind paying for online multiplayer; or are you happy to make do with the free, but not yet as fully featured, PSN?

- Will you use ethernet, or do you need wireless? [as going wireless with the 360 means adding another £60]

- Do you want to play Halo 3, Gears of War 1 & 2, BioShock, Forza 2, PGR4, Alan Wake, etc.; or do you want to play Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Metal Gear Solid 4, Haze, LittleBigPlanet, etc.?

I just wish Sony would hurry up with improving PSN & adding in-game XMB. Simple yet very useful feature I've been using on my 360 for over two years, yet no sign yet of the equivalent on the PS3 (well, maybe "Summer").

Hmm, if only the next console used Sony hardware & MS software lol.

There is that and its quite annoying, but then saying that, at least we don't have to pay £19.99 for demos (GT5P).

I'm amazed at the amount of suckers Sony has swindled into buying this.

Also, how long have GT5 and MGS4 been delayed? Weren't these supposed to be launch games?

Essentially 3 of those games you mention (LBP being the third although correct me if im wrong) are not even available yet.

The PS3 has no games of note that are exclusives to justify a purchase IMO and in the mean time PS3 owners are being dripfed firmware updates for Blu-Ray and seem content with it.

As Matt D said, if you want a media player then the PS3 is it, if you want a games console look to any of the other two.

But as i said, get a Wii forget about the 360 or the PS3.

GT5P is not a demo!! Since when does a demo contain over 70 cars 6 tracks and a whole host of features including online play.

Uncharted is one game of note that makes the PS3 a worthy purchase, how ever that is only one game and there are far better games only available on the 360.

I would rather games get delayed to make sure they are almost perfect. for example GTA was meant to be releassed last october but was delayed till last week, and I am totally glad they did as they were able to refine the game and get all the features in it that they planned and also got rid of most bugs.

I know the PS3 isn't perfect by any means but stop hatin on it so much. If you don't like it don't buy it, and leave it at that.
