Trade In Games
Just tried to trade in a couple of games at Gamestation. One of the games (Tomb Raider:Legend) I had was originally bought from Amazon.co.uk which was a brand new copy. Gamestation refused to take it as it would not scan on their machine and said that because I had bought it off the web they could not give me a trade in!
Why wouldn't they accept the game? I have seen second hand copies of this game on their shelves before.

Re: Trade In Games
Gamestation are crap now for trade in
I took my PS3 there a few months back and they where bitching saying it didn't work because it didnt work on their telly.
The simple answer was, I had it on my HD telly and via HDMI = so when I told the muppet he was oh, cant take it, it doesnt work. If it doesnt work on our telly then we cant take it. So I took it home, plugged it in again, turned off HD etc and took back and told the moron told you it works. He apologised and said "oh yeah"

Think I'll keep it now (use it as a coffee mat eventually) and get a few more achievements to add to my score. I used to like GAME but some of the policys they have now doesn't encourage me to shop there anymore...same with gamestation.

Looking at CEX, £6 is a decent trade-in price for TR:Legend.

Re: Trade In Games
Yeah I have bought from CEX they are alright, although I always find there is never enough staff at the tills and theres no real structure to the que system so people push and shoove.

I wasn't even aware Game had brought them out. The best shop was Electronic Boutique, before Game took over, I remember then when a PS1 was £199 they used to sell you accident insurance for £15 for two years, whatever happened to your console they would replace it, and they did, I had two new PS1s off them. One for a cup of coffee, and one when it kept skipping. Then Game come along.

Play.com & amazon.co.uk always have them cheaper. Saying that ASDA aint 3 bad.

Re: Trade In Games
Always order online myself now. Most of the game stores are a rip-off round were I live. Also if I want to sell a game its always 100% online. Get crap trade in prices here always make more online. I have bought a game from shopto.net (there very very good) once and after finishing it sold it for more than I had bought it. This has happened a couple times. I say online all the way tbh
I agree EB used to be great. We had a EB here then game took over and we had 2 Games. Then Gamestation moved here to and now game own them so we have 3 Game stores in our local town lol talk about fair competition !

Re: Trade In Games
Game used to be EB. I worked for them from 99-2002. The company used to have an agreement with the US company EB so they could use the name, and just before that contract ran out the UK EB bought Game and rebranded all stores to Game
But they have really gone down hill in the last few years, I have not bought anything from them in over a year. Since they got rid of their 10 day returns policy, that was the start of their downfall.
I know some people abused it but they shouldn't have got rid of it at all.
I can't believe some of the prices they give for trade in these days and then have the balls to stick them up for sale at only £2-5 cheaper than they cost new.

It looks like a case of 'pure greed' on their part.
I'm not shopping with GAME/Gamestation anymore.

I always use Play and Amazon as well, but, like you say, I found CoD4 for the PC to be the cheapest (only by a few pence mind lol) in Asda lol.
