Re: Alone In The Dark
Alone in the dark : The new nightmare, is the only one i've played.
At the time it kinda blew me away loved every minute of it, not too hard and not to frustrating for a survival horror game. So it was one of the few games I've played that I actually wanted to finish.
The graphics were pre rendered fixed camera backgrounds in the resident evil style with 3d characters.
The camera angles could be a real pain sometimes, for example off screen enemies, and areas that only showed up when you walked into just the right part of the screen. But for the time I really did rank it as a nice looking beast.
After that I played a few Silent Hill games to feed the thirst for survival horror. Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4: The room.
They both look really really good even today, and were true 3d, so hopefully this will bode me well for the new Alone In The Dark.
I've seen a few of the videos showing the new dynamics, fire mainly, and lots of it, and it looks good.
I just really really hope they don't use it as an excuse to make it into a constant battle fest like resident evil 4, and let me puzzle my way to survival in peace!

Re: Alone In The Dark
Played the original on the Amiga (oh thems were the days) used to get totally immersed in the game, atmospheric, gameplay, stunning (how many games fill that criteria nowadays?)
looking forward to this one.

I think if you find the right game there are still a good couple out there that can acheive it. Resident evil, Silent hill, Final Fantasy. These are the games that used to really hook me in. If a game has a really good storey to back it I usually get really into it.
