Devil May Cry 4 (360/PS3, and at some point PC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_May_Cry_4

So, with the DMC4 demo up on the XBL Marketplace & the PSN Store, who's tried it & what do you think?

I gave the 360 demo a go last week.

Seems pretty good.

I've never played any other DMC games, but I enjoyed Heavenly Sword on the PS3, so I think I'll like this. More hack & slash button bashing combo mayhem it seems

[Like Ninja Gaiden...]

I downloaded the demo of XBL and thought it was really dull. The graphics were great, but the game was repetative and the camera was allways in the wrong place.

Re: Devil May Cry 4 (360/PS3, and at some point PC)

Am same as you Matt, Have not played any of the DMC games before however I did get the demo from the America PSN store a couple weeks back and did enjoy it alot. I am very tempted to buy it. It has lovely visuals and the gameplay is fun and is a pick up and play kind of game almost. Is similair to Heavenly sword in ways mainly the combat.

If you havent already I surgest downloading the demo from PSN or XBL if you prefair and trying it out you may well be surprised as I was.

Some reviews:

IGN US, 8.7/10 -

IGN UK, 9/10 -

Gametrailers video review -

And a whole load at Metacritic -

http://www.metacritic.com/games/plat...0/devilmaycry4

http://www.metacritic.com/games/plat...3/devilmaycry4

Very good reviews.

Seems the 360 & PS3 versions are pretty much identical, although the PS3 has a slight edge due to having reduced loading times (the benefit of having a HDD as standard - the game installs some stuff to the HDD).

Re: Devil May Cry 4 (360/PS3, and at some point PC)

Yep PS3 has faster loadtime due to the game being installed to the HD and then being run from it. However I've read its like a 20min install lol so guess it has plus points on both platforms. I would rather wait for an install then have faster load time's but other's would no doubt prefair it the other way round.

Re: Devil May Cry 4 (360/PS3, and at some point PC)

Same here.

I'd rather wait 20 minutes (& go on the net, watch a bit of TV, have a quick go at an XBLA game or something), & then enjoy faster loading times, than be able to play straight away yet get fed up with slow loads.

As such, I've gone for the PS3 version (means missing out on Achievements, but hey).

ShopTo.net deals:

Limited Edition - £38.99

Normal Edition - £35.99

Still not as cheap as the 360 versions, but cheaper than what GAME etc. are charging for the PS3 versions.

Also, as it's a Capcom game, I'm a bit weary that the 360 version may have bad tearing over VGA like Lost Planet & Dead Rising have.

I ordered this off Game earlier, looking forward to playing it. I got the limited edition for £35 on the 360.

Lol matt have you become a shopto addict like myself ? Almost always they have the best deals and always a top-notch service in my experience.

Also any1 who gets the standard PS3 version they are also offering a free T-shirt long as stock last make's up a little bit for the price diffrence.

Also heard rumour's about a possible similair achivement's system comming to PS3 maybe in one of the firmware updates. Would be great if there was.

Re: Devil May Cry 4 (360/PS3, and at some point PC)

Heh, yeah, having 1st used them recently for their R:FOM bargain, I think they'll now be my main place of purchase.

Such good deals!

They even send you an SMS when your order has been dispatched!

Better, at least for games I've checked, than GAME/Gameplay/Gamestation (who are all the same company anyway...).

I don't tend to buy games in actual shops much, not unless I have a load of store credit in Gamestation to use.

So many shops seem to have this obsession with storing game discs inside the manual, in a drawer.

OK, it saves them space, but I find the discs are often dirty/smudged/scratched/marked.

Buy online = nice sealed copy, & a pristine disc

I think Sony are adding some sort of trophy room for Home?

Some games seem to have their own Achievements/GamerPoints of sorts, at least the few I've played (Heavenly Sword with Glyphs & Style Points, & stuff to unlock; Uncharted had points & achievement type things, etc.).

What would be good would be if they had a standard thing across all games, like the 360 has.

Re: Devil May Cry 4 (360/PS3, and at some point PC)

I have read on a couple of sites that the 20min install on the PS3 doesn't really help the loading times they are still very similar to the 360 loading times. So you might save a couple of secs each level.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com....php?id=181383
Quote:
We clocked the entire install process at 21 minutes, 41 seconds.

Following that the opening load time on PS3 was five seconds against eight on 360. And then three seconds versus four, and four versus five seconds in following load screens, PS3 - 360. As you can see there's not much in it.

Re: Devil May Cry 4 (360/PS3, and at some point PC)

Think its just more of bringing it closer because the 360 has a faster drive speed. I would agree that 3 - 4 seconds more is not really much of a diffrence but it would of been much longer on PS3 had the install not been avalible.
