"Significant Progress" made on Duke Nukem Forever.
It seems that, at long last, there is definate signs of life in the Duke Nukem forever project..

Hopefully, we will see at least some signs of release before the end of 2008.
I hope the above rumours are true. I loved DN3D.
But, TBH, it's already 10 years late, so I don't know if the above is true.

Was that progress 'left handed'?
And I do remember having this installed on my work laptop (when you could install software on work PCs) and I still know where my serial cable is
I'm sure we played it on the work LAN too but the wiki article says not.

Duke Nukem 3D you could play over a LAN, but I believe it only supported IPX/SPX networking if I remember correctly.

Novell Netware was IPX/SPX IIR, so I guess we were killing each other on the office LAN. Happy days.

By progress I suspect they mean some artist has mad some more concept art for the game. Possibly a next-gen pig-cop for the xbox 6,000,000 and the PS800. The wii (in it's 40th year as president of the world) will have "dukes funky mini games forever".

Oh, and version 5 of novell netware demoted ipx to an also ran back in the late nineties. Since then a default install of netware will use tcp by default.

Ah, the old Novell IPX broadcast storms - how we laughed! (actually, we didn't).

We still have the pleasure of broarcast storms in IP networks. I know cos my former employer had their network cripled by it. Turns out it was some crap remote control software the chump after me had installed. Stupid this is, I went back a few months later and it was back on!

Re: "Significant Progress" made on Duke Nukem Forever.
Lol i think this will be way way out dated when released.
They have already changed engines on the game multiple times and i still reckon there way behind.
Graphics imo will be ok at best ,the story should be great and gameplay seeing how its been in development for like 10 years :oo

Re: "Significant Progress" made on Duke Nukem Forever.
I still have the Game + the add-on 4th level.
I still remember the open line "Some alien Bar Steward has taken my ride"
I used to watch the pole dancers on some levels before I blew them away.
I even built my own level based on my house.
Must see if it will work under XP MCE

Let me know - I might try the same on plain ol XP.
Shows how gameplay really is the most important part of a game. Guess my computer could run it with all graphics and other options set to maximum these days!

Re: "Significant Progress" made on Duke Nukem Forever.
LOL, I thought this topic title read: " NO Significant Progress" made on Duke Nukem Forever
By 'significant progress' do they mean it's out of 'vapourware' now and onto the drawing board?
